Re: Sutil's return to China

I don't think it was ever a problem in the first place. He was never tried in China, his case was transferred to Germany.

Re: Senna says the was very unhappy in F1

Perhaps if hadn't been deprived of a quarter of his practice sessions (in order to get Bottas time in the FW34) throughout the year, he would have started further up the grid and improved on his finishes. It's hard to think that he wouldn't have scored appreciably better had he not been pulled for 1...

Re: Old Champ Car Races

I greatly miss the old series. Interesting this topic was brought up as I was just in attendance at the Mid-Ohio race the other weekend - the first time I had been to the race there since series split in the mid 90s. I remember quite well the racing back then, as I went to every race at the track I ...

Re: IndyCar Chiefs say their Drivers are "The best in the wo

I don't really get what the controversy is. Of course the guy is going to claim the Indycar drivers are the best; he's got a duty to promote his business. Just because he says it, of course, doesn't make his statement correct. I'm saying this as an American and one who is just getting back into Indy...

Re: Time to start asking questions of Kimi?

Back to the OP's question.... I agree with a previous poster who remarked that measuring Kimi against Grosjean isn't going to give us a very good yardstick to measure each drivers' abilities. Even though both have been out of F1 for two seasons, their interim periods were spent pretty differently, ...

This is a talkshow version of the Fox broadcast. Letterman, no stranger to openwheelers, acts like he's never seen an F1 car.

Re: Fox Coverage - Unwatchable!

From an American who was watching in the states, it is very disappointing to get what is essentially the most dumbed-down broadcast of the grand prix spectacle. Knowing that the folks in Europe generally get vastly superior coverage on race day, I could almost see this coming. Obviously the worst si...

Re: F1 2012 game wishlist

Interestingly the most difficult/important part of the game - the driving mechanics - were done pretty well, considering that's the part that needs to cater to the widest audience. CM blew it with every other aspect that need to polished in any video game, and that's why I think it's plausible it ma...

Okay, We all know the situation with Monaco sucking for racing. Just an idea - entertain it with an open mind - a change to the race format? No this isn't the way to go about making the race better. I think to come up with real possibilities for making the race more exciting, we need to understand ...

Re: More Webber to Ferrari speculation

I think the move makes perfect sense. Webber has shown no signs of slowing down and his talents are a nice compliment to Alonso's. Ferrari need not make a long commitment to Webber, and would give them extra time to evaluate their talent pool. Take away Perez's podium and he's just Sergio Perez. He ...

Re: Boullier: Grosjean can be F1 world champion

Hasn't Boullier been Grosjean's manager for some time? I mean, it's practically his duty to defend and support the guy on those grounds. The fact he's also team principal only leads to the conclusion that he's obviously supportive of the current driver lineup. It may be Eric just looking through his...

Re: Adrian Sutil's case is now formally over!

Assuming he's still got his Medion and other sponsorship deals, I think he's got a reasonable chance to join a team that could use a proven and talented pay driver. If not, he may have to settle for a reserve spot somewhere. Personally, I could care less about where he ends up in F1 since he had sev...

Re: Schumacher raises important point regarding Pirellis

I think it's a bit rich that Schumacher is taking this dig at the tyres when, as several previous posters have quoted Gary Anderson's piece, he literally had Bridgestone formulate its tyres to his Ferrari's specifications...which of course was designed around Schumi's driving style. But then again, ...

Re: Kimi - lacking killer instinct?

Kimi had one chance to overtake, and Vettel moved to defend late, which I thought was done well. The only criticism you could level at Kimi was that maybe he could have continued to go inside and make a balls-out all-or-nothing move on the brakes, which would have compromised his corner exit and Ve...

Re: Biggest losers this race

Hamilton easily was the loser of the race. Judging from the fact he lost somewhere around 15-20 seconds due to his pit stop mistakes, but for those problems, he probably would have wound up P4 just ahead of Webber. Got to be very disappointed he could have grabbed 12 points instead of what he did. J...

Him being a board member at Caterham is indeed a conflict of interest, but at least he's open about it. Re: Joe Saward's Blog

I don't get why people are getting ruffled about Joe's blog. He makes no effort to hide the fact he's a director of Caterham's road car division, and how people conclude he now has an axe to grind against Lotus is ridiculous. Lotus has some potentially serious issues that it's going to need to sort ...

Re: How will Vettel handle it

Lets see how the first couple of laps go. Being 11th, he can start on new tyres, which should give him an advantage over those in front of him. I was thinking just this when I saw him knocked out in Q2. Remember, this year starting 11th or 12th isn't such a predicament to be in when you consider th...

Re: MERCEDES...Podium or Not?

There are four things in their favor so far IMO. First they have locked the front row and considering their good starts they should be able to remain in the lead after the first lap which means that whoever is in the lead will have a rear gunner. Second, with two cars in front row Mercedes will hav...

Re: Vettel/Red Bull-Reanult's 2011 superiority exaggerated

Vettel had a fantastic season to be sure, but I think that the perception that the RB7 was so far ahead was because it was during the first half of the season. The only other car with comparable pace at any time during the season was McLaren, and they didn't begin to match the Red Bull's pace until ...

This is terrific for IndyCar, a series that's frankly in desperate need of a significant boost. It will certainly be some time be...

G'day from surprisingly sunny Ohio. I've been poking around here for a few months after I stumbled on PF1 looking for an F1 news site. My background in motorsport is disjointed; my father has worked most of his life for Honda in the states so I got into the CART series in the early 90s, and I now fi...
