Re: Brazil 2021 - Should Max have been given a Penalty

I think a statement needs to made. Max has got away with it for too long. A stern warning wouldn't do anything. They need to hit him where it hurts. Saying that, I don't think Mercedes will get anything from this and expect no penalty for Max despite the evidence Max isn't the problem it's the guy ...

Re: Brazil 2021 - Should Max have been given a Penalty

Well now I've seen Max's onboard I think I'll stick my initial assessment. He didn't really open up the steering, he just ran deep to stay alongside Hamilton and then didn't really try to make the turn when he could have as he knew that would potentially allow Hamilton to carry his momentum round t...

Always was and kind of how it needs to be. I don't know why they insist it isn't. How it needs to be? Sorry, I disagree that aggressive behavior should only be penalized if there is a mishap due to it. Driver has an oversteery moment which causes him to spin into another car a penalty will be given...

Its should be pretty obvious by now that stewarding and penalties are based on the consequence rather than the incident itself. Always was and kind of how it needs to be. Re: 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix Race Thread

Difficulty with these moves for me has always been how you prove intent, and that the driver in Max’s position has deliberately crowded the other driver. This one does look particularly clumsy, and is made worse by just how far ahead Hamilton is before the corner. But Max is for me entitled to use ...

Re: Brazil 2021 - Should Max have been given a Penalty

The crowding rule is a "grey area" but I think the precedent has been set. If you are slightly ahead you can crowd a driver out. Verstappen did it to Bottas at the start. He did it to Hamilton at the start at Imola. Hamilton did it to Verstappen at Portugal during the race and at the start in USA. ...

Oh come on Fiki is one of the most bias around I was called out for mentioning it before. But it's clear. Please explain my supposed bias. Re: 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix Race Thread

If both broke too late then neither could control the car. They'd both be guilty of the same thing basically. I'm just speculating as to perhaps why the stewards weren't interested. This isn't a defence of Verstappen at all. I was pleased when Hamilton got the move done. He was the deserved winner....

Verstappen at best should have received a 5 second penalty. FIA are clearly deciding where the championship goes. Excellent race but Max was awful with his behaviour. Agree. Was it "clearly" Ricciardo's fault? It's certainly not Bottas' fault, but... even before this incident, I'd already had a dim view of Bottas' spatial awareness... almost being oblivious of where the rear of his car is. Wasn't it Bottas who at two separate Monza meets moved back onto the racing line...

Re: Who will win the Championships?

Looking like voting is swinging convincingly to Verstappen & Red Bull. Hamilton has been extracting the maximum from his car & clinging on in races with his fingernails. Perez is extracting more from his Red Bull than Bottas does from Mercedes. Given the relative closeness still, you've still got to...

How did Ricciardo not get a penalty for that? for the first lap? If that is what you mean, then it is simply because it is the first lap that they don't give much of a penalty. it was clearly ricciardo's fault though, but many other drivers on the first lap don't get penalties for this sort of thin...

Starting to think Red Bull 1-2 results are preferable to a drawn out title battle. I'd been nervous that the points from Belgium could be critical and that would be a disaster for the sport, but Red Bull's performance increasingly looks like making that a non-issue.

Alonso didn't even try and make turn 1. After watching F2 and F3 I'm not surprised. In theory, if Bottas would delay Max moderately either way, then delaying him early in the race might lose Max more positions overall by giving the midfield a chance to get the jump on the back 4. Losing 5 seconds, say, means far more on lap 5 than lap 25. On the evidence of this season so far, whe...
