Re: 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Race Thread
Great racing from Max and Charles, but a bit tiddled off that Max gained time under the VSC behind Charles - a little bit unfair that he got working DRS without earning it. Even Hamilton got that advantage last year on the same track. It is part of racing, so fair enough. What has Hamilton last yea...

Re: 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Regardless of the multitude of other valid reasons not to race in Saudi, if there was a threat to peoples liberty should they not race - then the race simply needs to be dropped from any future calendar.

Re: Zero tolerance track limits rules for 2022
FIA being the FIA, track limits certainly didn't have zero tolerance during qualy in F1, but did in F3 (race result impacted by track limit violation).
Good to see them being consistently inconsistent.

Re: 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Well done to Ferrari, they clearly have the best package and have two very capable drivers. Max really showed his speed getting into second, lets hope he doesn't act too rash at the start. Mercedes look like they have some work to do, but being Mercedes they will no doubt improve. Bit of a blunder ...

Re: BREAKING NEWS... Michael Masi Removed As Race Director
I wonder why Mr Benson wrote the underlined part. It isn't in the executive summary. I find it also strange that Mr Benson didn't mention a footnote in the executive summary, in relation to the radio call by Hamilton that "This has been manipulated". I'm not a betting person myself, but it is rathe...

3 hours before the first qualifying of the season and I'm still left feeling flat. The fact that the whole debacle of the last race has never been resolved and we haven't even had the courtesy of a statement from the FIA is preposterous.

Nice touch by Lewis on the name change. The guys earned a few brownie points from me. Lewis has just said something stupid. It was excellent racing from Perez and frankly if he hadn't done it you'd have to be disappointed in him. It was fair and good driving by him. Lewis was just getting frustrated as he saw his lead evaporating. The thing is, it wasn’t racing from Perez. It was th...

Re: How will Hamilton deal with Max this season?
Don't know how he will, but what he SHOULD do is lay down a marker at the earliest opportunity that he won't turn his wheel away when Max does one of his "move or we'll crash" manoeuvres. He should allow the contact to happen and make clear the only reason he was doing it last year was because of t...

Aggregate times. Solves all issues if you want it to be as sportingly fair as possible. Any other answer is reducing the sporting fairness in favour of the show to varying degrees. I agree, but if the SC is required for safety reasons then I believe in leaving the lapped cars in position. My favour...

Re: BREAKING NEWS... Michael Masi Removed As Race Director
As expected, however, still doesn’t rectify the injustice of the last race.
Masi had to go, due to his actions we have no idea who would have won in Abu Dhabi , and we have a World Champ with an asterisk against his name. That is neither fair to Max or Lewis.

No, he didn't have to make up rules, but he did have to know them better than the average fan, or commentator by the looks of things. Of course, it's his job to know what he can and cannot do. Re: Abu Dhabi 2021 - How has it left you feeling?
KingVoid has a tendency to play up the 'inferior car' piece a bit too much, IMO, but it is true. On balance, although RBR started off with the better car, I would say Mercedes had the better car measured over the entire season. That said, 'inferior car' carries the unspoken implication that it was ...

It was a 22 race season, why play about with the poll (ignoring 10% of the season) to get the result you want - seems a bit like Masi playing god on the last race.

My hope is that when I sit down in March, to watch the new season, I can stomach seeing WDC assigned to Max’s name. I can’t right now, not that he won, but that it was handed to him unjustly.

I think we'll see him, however, one could forgive him for not - it must be difficult to stomach having the title taken away by a manipulation of the rules rather than a racing incident.

I voted no. Officiating errors happen in sport everywhere. Look at the hand of God, or the 2019 NRL Grand Final. I think this whole court ordeal is a sign of poor sportsmanship. I’m sure you could drill down any number of races, and seen if it went a different way, Hamilton would have won the title...

Max was astounding this year, but he needs to do so fairly and keep the car on the track. Lewis started and finished the year much stronger.
It's so close between them, but Lewis edges it over the course of the year.

I think Silverstone. Hamilton takes Verstappen out in an incident where he is primarily at fault, but due to the red flag he caused he is able to fully repair his car and rejoin the race, eventually winning despite a slap on the wrist penalty? I don't see what could be much worse than that, tbh. Sp...

I'm sorry, but the manner in which this title was eventually decided has placed a giant asterisk on Max's record. Something that seems to have been overlooked is the disadvantage handed to Riciardo, Stroll, and Schumacher. They weren't afforded the opportunity to fight the 5 allowed through for seventh place. Also, if the cars were left in front of Max, there is a chance Sainz could have attacked for second. Th...
