David Coulthard: Sainz was perfectly within his rights to let his car drift...

David Coulthard: Leclerc will get a penalty for that.

Can't imagine why the disparity.

That's the sort of thing I used to roll my eyes at when playing on the original Playstation! Seems like everything the FIA comes up with to stop drivers going off track causes problems... surely the electronic route is the answer, since the drivers (cough VETTEL cough) are hellbent on ignoring track...

Re: Where would you like to see Vettel in 2020?

Would like to see Seb at Mercedes mainly to watch him and Lewis in equal cars. Of course they could also race in equal cars at Ferrari. Would settle a lot of bickering about who is winning just because they have the better car. It really wouldn't... whoever moved to the other's team would be disadv...

Well now that it is here I guess we shall see. But I still don’t like it. Will it lead to the front runners pushing more at the end of races? I’m not so sure because taking care of the tires and preserving the position is most definitely more important than the 1 point you get for fastest lap. And ...

Point for fastest lap is much better than a point for pole. At least a WDC can't be decided before a race starts this way.

Also this will ensure the top teams need to show their genuine pace, if only for one lap.

The radio is probably quite important for the 'show'. As it's almost impossible to see the driver these days, it at least gives some connection for the viewer to the human inside the car. When we talk about 'spec' parts, is it the case that the teams are making the parts to a spec or is it that they...

Wouldn't they push hard at the start to burn off the fuel and then once they'd got just barely enough to make it to the end of the race they'd start coasting again.

Best idea would be a mandatory fuel refill about 2/3rds of the way through the race!

I still think we can not compare drivers of the different era, and the hazy lines between them makes it even harder to do so. At Interlagos Lewis Hamilton was less than a lap from exhaust system failure when the lean mixture sent the temperatures soaring above 1000 degrees F. The team enriched the fuel mapping and Lewis was able to finish and win the race. Then he would have DNF'd, and we'd have one step further towards u...
