Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread
So Hamilton benefited from team orders so what? All this hu ha over nothing. What has gone under the radar is a subtle change in approach from Hamilton and Mercedes. They are suddenly confronted by this huge almost surreal opportunity to go for the biggest records in F1 and they have decided to go a...

Re: Rate the multi WDC F1 Champions
It’s only my opinion, but I am very confident that if you put a peak Prost and a peak Hamilton in the same car Hamilton would beat Prost by a wide margin. I see a few people rank Prost ahead of Hamilton which is completely justified but besides consistency, big picture mentality and politicking Pros...

Re: Is there any doubt anymore about Hamilton vs. Vettel?
It’s rumoured that Vettel signed a pre-contract with Mercedes for 2018 after Rosberg retired, but he extended with Ferrari instead after they produced a surprisingly good car in 2017. That’ extremely unlikely. Rosberg had just signed a 2 year contract for 2017 and 2018 the year he retired and the r...

Re: Is there any doubt anymore about Hamilton vs. Vettel?
I don’t think Hamilton is too concerned about Vettel to be honest. Remember he went to Christian Horner seeking a seat next to Vettel. He must feel confident that he can beat him in a head to head. On the other hand I don’t see Vettel for example seeking to join Mercedes next to Hamilton. He seems e...

Re: I am calling it now Hamilton will win WDC 2018
Got to love it when people say 30 points isn't much.... yes.. it is a single DNF or requires a single team to pretty much dominate. People seem to forget that a single driver hasn't dominated so many races in the last 18 months. Which means Sebastian will win another race sooner or later but so wil...

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread
What a steal from Hamilton and Mercedes to extend both championship leads in Monza, and this time didn’t even need rain. But there are no tracks left on the calendar that scream Mercedes. Perhaps Suzuka and COTA. Either way it’s gonna be difficult to win the championships against the faster Ferrari ...

No, you do not demand respect/recognition. It is absurd to suggest that he doesn't get praise enough. Just after his fantastic demonstration, when every website in the world had only good things to say about his drive. Let's see, Brundle said recently that Hamilton certainly deserves the £40m a yea...

Meh, any driver can say whatever they wish. Teams have tight restrictions on the release of information, and drivers get peppered with a lot of stupid questions. But Hamilton's comments carried a tone of arrogance. And the arrogant one lost. The season is 21 races long. Hamilton hasn’t lost yet. Th...

Vettel. His drive was not spectacular, but it was enough to grant him a win. Yes, a huge chunk of luck fell his way, but he was able to capitalize on it. Hamilton was a close second for being so quick. But on the lead up to this season he expressed a desire to race Vettel. When he came out of the p...

It’s absurd to think that only the British media has a tendency for nationalistic bias. I have no doubt the Italians are as bad when it comes to Ferrari and it’s drivers. So are the Germans, Australians, Dutch and so on. It’s unrealistic to expect broadcasters not to cater to their main customers, w...

All the doom and gloom about a Mercedes walkover might be a bit premature. Apparently the tire-compound correction assumptions are a bit off the mark. An interesting question that I have begun to ask myself is; is this period of strength from Mercedes different from previous periods of dominance such as Red Bull 2010-2013, Ferrari 2000-2004, Williams 1992-1997 or Mclaren 1988-1989? Mercedes have already accomplished something that those teams did...

I suppose from testing it looks like Hamilton is looking at another bumper year to bolster his stats, unless Bottas surprises us all and puts together a stonking year. He could be looking at less than 20 races shy of Michael’s all time record of race wins by the end of 2018 if the Mercedes is truly ...

I want to become a fan of Ocon but I just don't see him as a great talent. To me he is probably a Button type character who would win a title with a lot of luck in the right circumstances. Re: Button on Hamilton and Alonso
The evidence to suggest Alonso is not an A1 qualifier is..... Alonso was beaten 16-15 by Jarno Trulli over one lap in 2003-2004 and 9-8 by Hamilton in 2007. If we exclude Hungary 2007, then he was matched by a very well prepared rookie which suggests that he's very good but not great in qualifying....

It's a choice of having a No.1 driver and someone who will back him up with enough points, or having 2 top drivers. Bottas has done well at the start of the year, but is clearly in the No. 2 driver role now. At the moment, it's looking like Hamilton is making the Mercedes successful - in comparison...

He's matched Vettel in WDCs, now it's all about who wins that 5th one first. You'd have to place your bets on Lewis winning 2018 too. Bottas lacks the talent to challenge him and Mercedes have an inherit advantage in this era . When/if Mercedes sign Max in 2019 is when I think that Lewis will be kn...

If it is a 1 stopper or a track that is hard to overtake on, qualifying is very important. Unless you believe Hamilton to have a slight advantage over Vettel over 1 lap - then the Mercedes has been better in qualifying over the year. Not massively so, somewhere around 9-6 in qualifying if we assume...
