Re: Long summer break, get rid of it!

Point 1. These people are human and they need a break, particularly in the middle of a 20 race season. If there was not this enforced break then they would work non stop from the first test to the last race. Point 2. It's the summer. I would rather the F1 races took place on weekends when the weath...

Re: Are the drivers at a higher level than the Senna/Prost e

The short answer is yes, of course they are. The same applies to all sports. But the sportsmen of today are developed based on the knowledge learned from those sportsmen of previous eras. Senna was the template for Schumacher, Schumacher was the template for today's drivers. Whether Senna would be ...

Re: Long summer break, get rid of it!

Thank you for the replies and insights. I knew there would be contrary opinions on this and take them all to heart. But I also find it hilarious that some of you assume I don't know what it's like to work. And, it is NOT common for most people around the world in high value jobs to get 4 or more wee...

Long summer break, get rid of it!

I have to rant a bit and say that this long summer break is annoying and absurd. What kind of a world class major sport event takes a big part of the prime season off from public exhibition? I think they need to do away with this and have a race every 2 weeks all summer long. They can break in the w...

German GP television coverage

I have complained in the past about poor F1 television coverage but I must say the German GP coverage was amazing. There were replays of just about everything I wanted to see, many great angles and overall the picture quality was excellent. A far cry from what I'd seen a year ago. I watch in Canada ...

Re: Eye level video of Spa

Very nice video. Thanks for posting. I bet we get more and more of these as technology comes along. It would be neat to have such a camera on every car at each F1 race and then be able to ride along as it were. They could make some real money doing that.

Planet F1 fantasy league - impossible to predict anything

Wow, I am having a heck of a time with my pics this year. How about the rest of you? I thought I was a superman about halfway through the race today having just this morning traded such that I dropped Alonso, had Lewis, Seb, Maldonado and Grosjean. I was patting myself on the back for brilliant stra...

Re: Waiting for Valencia?

Thread title is misleading against the poll question... Yes, I am looking forward to Valencia as it's F1, however boring. Will it be as boring as other years? Probably it will have more going than previous years but it won't be anywhere near as exciting as some of the other races this season. In ot...

Re: What are kerbs really there for?

I think they are there to provide race television directors with opportunities for super slomo shots of the cars bouncing about.

Seriously, it would be interesting to see what a race would be without them. I like them though and feel they provide another challenge/opportunity to the drivers.

60" HD Sony TV and sound over the stereo. A cup of tea, lying on the sofa with nobody else home but me and my dog lying on my belly. It's fantastic. I PVR all races and qualy as well in case I want to go back and see my own replays.

These are random predictions. I think it'll be fun to see who gets the most ones right Quote and fill in the areas :) A brief of what will happen on the first few laps: Weber will have a lousy start, losing at least 3 positions. Kimi will pass grosjean and maldonado. A specific driver's race: Lewis...

Re: The Next "1st Winner" Driver

Kimi I think. He's got the experience and they are learning how to improve the car each and every race. (So are others I concede, but I think he can do it.) Kimi has already won 18 races, the question is asking which driver will be next to win his first race, as Rosberg did in China. A lot depends ...

Re: Gravel Traps - Much better for F1 than asphalt run-off a

As is so often the case more than one solution may be best. Gravel in some areas and tarmac in others. Both have advantages and I agree with many of you that the giant tarmac run off areas don't offer enough of a penalty. It's interesting though that I just hate it when my favourite driver is taken ...

I won't miss it. I'd rather they do another better venue. As much as I agree that Valencia is terrible they're not going to get a replacement for this year if the race doesn't go ahead. I'd rather have the Valencia GP than a gap in the calendar, though admittedly not by much. That's what I meant. I...
