Re: Why don't drivers always defend the inside line?
Basically, the problem with defending on the inside is that the inside line is slower; so if you defend on the inside and there's a straight afterwards, a following car can just tuck in behind you and, making a faster exit, overtake you on the following straight. That's what Rosberg should have done...

Re: DOTW Canada - Officially Unofficial Driver Of The Weeken
Putting the whole weekend together, I can't look past Hamilton. A great qualifying, a decisive (whatever you may think of it, the stewards have clearly made their stance clear) move on his teammate at the start, and then making the right strategy work to take victory back after a poor start. The onl...

I'm inclined to agree with Verstappen, Sainz and Bottas; all of them did at least something extraordinary, and none of them made mistakes. For the weekend the answer would be different, but for the day it's those three for me.

No official update until Wednesday night at the earliest, but unofficially: Black_Flag_11, mcdo and Remmirath share the win individual win. Safety car start weather. Interestingly, as I'm about to leave my hotel in Montreal, the local weather prediction disagrees, projecting it as a fairly low 15% chance of rain all day and only 2-4mm if it happens. Definitely not safety car weather, and possibly even a slick start. We'll see who's rig...

Pretty mindblowing if you ask me. I suppose that would have to depend on how easily your mind is blown. Mindblowing to me would at least require actually outqualifying Ricciardo. 1. Faster in qualifying. Prost had 33 poles in 199 attempts while spending 4 seasons in a dominant car (84, 88, 89, 93). Hamilton reached 33 poles in 131 without a single dominant car. About Prost's years in a dominant car: in two of those years he had the best qualifier of all time for a teammate,...

Not faulting Bottas because the Williams just sucks in the wet, but my point is that none of those overtakes are going to make the best of the year, and most of those guys ultimately did not like to see a Redbull in their mirrors so they let him by as if there were blue flags. Thinking about it, it's really frustrating to realize that if Ferrari had executed well and capitalized upon Merc's mistakes, Vettel could have been in the lead of the championship taking a win in Australia and a second place in Bahrain into account.
