Just to clarify:
Tobacco sponsorship is NOT banded in F1. Tobacco advertising IS banned.
Marlboro still actively sponsors Ferrari (Until 2015). However, they are not allowed to advertise on the car. So, why do they do this - easy - to sell their advertising space to other sponsors & make more money.

Testing prior to 2009.
Even though I've been an F1 fan since the mid Eighties, I never took any notice of testing prior to the start of the season. Not sure why - probably because no one else took much notice (no media coverage, no internet coverage, etc) It wasn't until Brawn popped up in testing in 2009 & blew the field...

I'm pretty sure that Marlboro still sponsors Ferrari.
Dont know why, as they arent allowed to 'show' any sign of them - not even the old fashioned bar code.

Re: Ecclestone: Teams dont want V6 engines
May I just point out that one of the most successful cars in the history of F1 was the McLaren MP4 -4 19 88 , & guess what what - that was powered by a V6 Turbo! So to say that changing to the V6 is wrong because the engine will sound different is ludicrous! I watched F1 in the 80s & it was a hell ...

Re: Merc Confusion
^ Well look at it this way.... If Hamilton does well (Wins races/Gets podiums) then all the Schumi lovers will claim that Hamilton has a better car this year & Schumi couldnt win because his car was poor. If Hamilton does very poor everyone will say Schumi was a better driver & could do better. In e...

Re: Merc Confusion
It has happened in the past. Keke Rosberg drove a Marlboro Lights Mclaren in the 1986 Estoril GP. It was the only time it happen 'cos it was deemed that it looked like the colours where washed out & had faded in the sun! http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=keke+rosberg+marlboro+light+car&hl=en&sa=X&tbo...

I really dislike Massa.
Not sure why, I just do. I'm not saying his not a good driver or a good racer, I just dont like him.

Re: Why do teams try cover up their cars in the pits?
^ This. Why draw obvious attention to something, you are only going to get a swarm of photographers taking pictures of this area the next time the car leaves the pits & then an army of experts go over the photos to see if there’s anything 'worth nicking' On a side note - why can’t stuff be 'patented...

Why do teams try cover up their cars in the pits?
No, I'm not that stupid - I know they are covering up to hide new parts or new innovations, but is there any point in doing this? Red Bull are famous for this & usually get mechanics to stand & 'cover' the back end of the car when it lines up on the grid just before the start. But what's stopping ph...

Oranges are naturally green in colour. Their colour has nothing to do with their ripeness.
Anyway, oranges aren't important as the 2012 Mercedes was a lemon!

Re: When was the last time there a FULL dry season of racing
Thats a lot later than I thought. The reason I asked the original question is that I think the last few seasons have been affected by a lot of wet races. Some people perform better in the dry compared to others in the wet. If theres a lot of wet races then this 'could' dramatically effect on the WDC...

When was the last time there a FULL dry season of racing.
I thought about this earlier - I think there was a full dry season without any wet racing sometime in the early 90s.
However - I'm going to through a curve ball in & include Race & Qualifying!
Anyone with a better memory than me??

Re: James Allen - Button & Hamilton Head to Head Analysis
Those stats make quite interesting reading. Before reading this thread I bet most people would believe that Hamilton would be miles ahead of Button in most stats. Anyone wanna compare Alonso & Massa? They've been team mates forthe same amount of time as Hamilton/Button. I'll stick my neck out here &...
