Re: 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Thread
Red Bull should have given the drive to Gasly for 2020, not only would that show that once you are demoted it isn't necessarily the end for you, you can come back, but also it looks like Albon needs the same kind of 'kick-up-the-backside' demotion that the other drivers have been given. No Red Bull...

Re: Vettel vs. Leclerc
Well, I voted that Vettel would win but it would be close. So much for that idea. My question is with a 24 point gap from Leclerc to Vettel, almost a race win, is that really all that close? While Vettel has benefited from having a favored race strategy in the team, Charles did what he needed to do...

Re: 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Thread
I wasn’t watching really closely, but did Albon not push Vettel pretty hard throughout the second half of the race? I know he was fortunate to gain 4s during the first round of pit stops, but that seems a pretty respectable way to end the season? Perhaps there is something I missed - no doubt F1 Ra...

Re: 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Thread
Exactly, 'was'. Albon was a rookie, not Albon is a rookie. Big difference. H e's already had a season and a third of races under his belt in old money, (i.e. back when 16 races per season was the norm) . So by 1950's standards he's a 2.5 season veteran? Correct. To gauge experience, it's the number...

Re: 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Thread
Albon is literally a couple of races away from many people turning against him. If he is still slow after race two of next season, then what more excuses are left for him, where else can any supporters go? He's not really a rookie, he has had 21 grand prix now, that's plenty to start getting good a...

Re: 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Thread
I can't even imagine the lambasting that drivers like Damon Hill and Eddie Irvine would have gotten if the internet was widespread and easily accessible in the mid '90s. Irvine was so many miles away from Schumacher, yet he was retained year after year. Then, through a heavy dose of chance and circ...

Re: 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Thread
Yeah, I mean he's not a great driver, it's as simple as that. None of Gasly, Kyvat or Albon should be on the grid, but Gasly is probably just about the best out of all three. Your crusade against Albon is borderline bizarre at this point. He's a frikkin' rookie up against arguably the best driver o...

The only ridiculous thing is you refusing to accept the fact that it is not an ordinary gap. Please bring up a comparable driver pairing that shows a similar disparity. Really? I dont recall any top driver that far ahead of a so called mediocre driver. Actually when the gap is that big it usually suggests that the slower guy should not be on the grid. Re: 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Thread
When you look at the points of the drivers who have been at Red Bull or Toro Rosso, Verstappen has over 50 more points than the other 3 put together. I know Red bull seems to work around max, but that is an absolutely massive difference given i am already making it an unrealistic comparison. I thin...

I don't think anybody is particularly against you or for you, I think majority of people are saying it's way to soon to make a judgement call and it's unfair to expect a rookie to come into a team halfway through the season and beat max He doesn't need to beat Max, he just needs to be within about ...

Re: 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Thread
I hate this track with a passion and it has produced another pretty tedious race really. The minor placings changed hands later on I suppose, but not a classic. The Mercedes dominance here was underlined by Hamilton being able to set the fastest lap on pretty old hard tyres, and Bottas being able t...

Re: 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Thread
So from what I can gather, Sainz HAS confirmed 6th in the WDC. It's been a strong season from Carlos but he's one of the most divisive drivers on the grid it seems when it comes to this forum when deciding just how good he really is. I do believe him to be generally a very smart points hoover. When...

Well this race seems exciting.
It was disturbing hearing Crofty's comments regarding the increased safety car usage recently. Clearly he is in favour of artificial 'spicing up' of the racing.

I think Hamilton made a mistake not to go for slipstream. He should have tucked behind behind going to final corner.
