Re: Abu Dhabi 2021 - How has it left you feeling?
I would second that it is possible to move on, but also not forget. I personally don’t think it is right to let the FIA ‘forget’ the mistakes that were made and move forward thinking everything is ok, if it is not. For many, Hamilton will either be an 8 time WDC*, just like Max will be a one time WD...

Re: BREAKING NEWS... Michael Masi Removed As Race Director
The decision to remove Masi is fair given the circumstances, as there were a number of questionable decisions towards the end of the season, but at the end of the day the FIA as a whole is accountable for those final events and not one man acting alone. It's good that they are showing they are willi...

Re: Lapped Cars
Sounds like there’s some minor changes to safety car coming in rules…. Bit confused about this change tbh, guess it just means the process for the safety car coming in might be quicker. https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/fia-makes-rule-tweak-to-streamline-f1-safety-car-restart-process/8289311/ Edit:...

Re: Lapped Cars
Not letting lapped cars back through is akin to giving a one lap penalty to the car that has just been lapped. That's a huge cost for allowing the leader a little bit more of an advantage. Essentially your saying the car in 9th should endure a 120 second penalty so the leader can gain a further 3 s...

Indeed, it is article 15.3 which gives the Race Director overriding authority on the use of the Safety Car. Fiki, just because 15.3 doesn't explicitly state the limits of his authority doesn't mean his authority is unlimited. It's generally assumed the authority of sporting officials is bound by sp...

Re: Abu Dhabi 2021 - How has it left you feeling?
Drivers could slow down specifically at turn 14 while going normal speed for the rest of the lap. Also, the circuit was basically clean by midway lap 56 anyway. According to Jolyon Palmer analysis on F1TV it was possible to get all the cars to unlap themselves and still have a final lap shootout. I...

Re: Abu Dhabi 2021 - How has it left you feeling?
Hamilton did a 1:56 under VSC and was doing 2:25 lap times under SC, so no, the cars are traveling significantly faster under the VSC than the SC. Likewise, any crash which involves a wreckage on the racing line and requires a crane to remove will always result in a safety car. And cars unlapping t...

Re: Abu Dhabi 2021 - How has it left you feeling?
In letting them unlap but leaving them directly ahead of the leaders, assuming there are multiple laps to go, that would be directly penalizing the cars that have already lapped cars, as they would lose time passing them again, over cars that have not lapped cars. Something that has been overlooked ...

Re: Abu Dhabi 2021 - How has it left you feeling?
The difference is was there any indication Masi wanted to bring out the SC and Toto changed his mind, the VSC was what Masi felt was efficient. At the end of the race Masi decided no lapped cars to overtake then we hear JW giving Masi a set of instructions to follow which he did exactly and themn f...

I'm kind of over it now, but have to say , seeing the conversation with JW doesn't reflect well on Masi does it. I still, maybe naively, believe Masi thought he was doing the right thing, but he pretty much implemented an instruction given to him by one of the two teams in the title fight that woul...

Almost as comical as deciding certain cars should be able to unlap but not others. Largely irrelevant, as the drivers efforts were f...

For my part the original SC was just fine without unlapping the cars. This actually distorts the race more so I'm surprised to here you say it. This is true, but in AD the alternative given the timing was for the race to finish under safety car conditions if they had allowed everyone to unlap and f...

Is that comfort for Red Bull going into 2022 though? Would appear that the cut-off for allocating the limits, was 30th June, at which point Red Bull were 1st. I voted no. Officiating errors happen in sport everywhere. Look at the hand of God, or the 2019 NRL Grand Final. I think this whole court ordeal is a sign of poor sportsmanship. I’m sure you could drill down any number of races, and seen if it went a different way, Hamilton would have won the title...

He has also said that he will not jump to conclusions and he will await the findings of the review of events in Abu Dhabi. He should be afforded that time.
Have to trust that he will apply those same principles that 'rules are rules' consistently.
