Re: What happened to Allmighty Mercs?
What about their downforce? I think I read some comments from Toto suggesting that Red Bull and Ferrari were quicker in corners Belgium. Are they losing the downforce war? That isn't true at all. Hamilton was fastest of all in sector 2, they were running more downforce than anybody else. I still wo...

So who gets the other Renault seat, Vergne as a French driver ? Magnussen ? Does Maldonado even get to keep his seat ? The plot thickens ;-). so what EJ suggests is that the new VW works team that will enter the sport in 2016 will be sponsored by Red Bull and powered by Ferrari? A livery change to reflect the Ferrari bit? That would be strange. They have the red in their colors already. Did they do anything for Renault? I think Infiniti is still with them so that bit would remain I guess. I suppose it would just replace what they have for Renault. Can't recall if the STRF ...

I always wished Jean Alesi had won more races. He was hugely talented, but followed his heart and his Italian heritage and joined Ferrari at a time when Williams began to dominate F1 and he could have chosen to go there (he even had a contract with Williams which Ferrari paid a penalty to scrap). Well Renault are still posturing this week over terms which in the balance of probability suggests to me they aren't fully committed yet . Grosjean doesn't want to risk being shuffled out the pack with no drive for 2016. Some new upstart could come along and Grosjean forgotten. Even if Renault do b...

Besides, the Marussia car is just marginally faster than what he's been driving all year so not too big a learning curve, if any. Learning curve is loosely related to speed and probably far more to complexity. A GP2 car might not be that much slower than a Manor F1 but it is far less complex. Basic...

Reading about the 1967 Belgium Grand Prix at Wikipedia, there was this item about the winning Eagle Weslake car: "The Eagle was timed at 196 mph on the start/finish straight, an extraordinary speed for a car with an engine producing (at that time) something less than 400 h.p." From what I could gather from Dieter Rencken's article there would be damn all the FIA could do about it. This sport needs a lot more engine suppliers in general. In 2003 we had 9 (Ferrari, Mercedes, Honda, BMW, Renault, Toyota, Cosworth, Ford & Petronas). Every team had their own engine, even Jaguar's Cosworth was a different spec to that of Minardi. 10 years later, we were left with just 3 suppliers....
