Re: Who will win the Championships?
Anyone changed their mind after this weekend? I think Red Bull’s pace this weekend has surprised a lot of people. I said Max and Red Bull, and today's race solidified my opinion. WCC is all but done at this point. Regarding WDC, I think the Red Bull package (Max + RB + Pit crew/ strategy) is better...

Re: 2021 French Grand Prix Race Thread
I thought the cooler conditions would suit Mercedes but they were struggling more from tyre wear when compared to RB. Correct. I think Mercedes thought that the Red Bull from Spain would show up, but looks like they did a better job post Barcelona. Also, seems like the new engine makes them faster ...

Re: 2021 French Grand Prix Race Thread
I was watching the live gap between Hamilton and Verstappen like a hawk. Just before Hamilton dove into the pits, the live gap between him and Verstappen was 24.3 seconds. That should have been enough to stay ahead. His pit stop was a very fast 2.2 seconds. He should have rejoined about a second in...

Re: 2021 French Grand Prix Race Thread
Who knows. It's hard to stay in the dirty air. Either way it was a key error from Hamilton. If hed lost a couple of second id agree, but he lost maybe barely .5 of a second. The key errors were turn 1 and the mercedes strategy And Hamilton running wide under pressure. It's mistakes like that, that ...

Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021
Bahrain - Red Bull Emilia Romagna - Draw Portugal - Mercedes Spain - Mercedes Monaco - Red Bull Azerbaijan - Red Bull France - Mercedes 3-3 Verstappen looks to have a slither more pace than Hamilton at key times. That brake magic error might haunt him. Long season though. Based on what? Without the...

Re: 2021 French Grand Prix Race Thread
In turn 12 (?) with some I don't know 10 laps to go, it was a replay he went off track. In time gap it was a drop of 0.5-0.7 sec. Id say the back markers had a much bigger impact than going wide at one corner. Even if that is true, max would have had another lap Who knows. It's hard to stay in the ...

Re: 2021 French Grand Prix Race Thread
Well I can't criticise Bottas, Hamilton was even easier to pass he didn't even try to defend, total strategy fail from Mercedes which lost then the race, pitting Bottas before Hamilton was a total fail. Good old Mercedes. They had the car to win today, they somehow finished 2nd and 4th. Completely ...

Re: 2021 French Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Not sure what to make of FP2, which typically gives us a good indication on how the drivers and cars are set for the race. Max was faster, but that fast lap was as perfect as you can get. Meanwhile, on LH's fast lap he rode the kerbs, which may have cost him some time. I would actually favor Max and...

Re: When did the modern champions decline?
Today's athletes have more longevity than the older ones, I would say even compared to the athletes of 2000s. Diet and training is much different than what it used to be 10-15 years back. That being said, I think the average age a F1 driver may start declining today is once he crosses 35. Hamilton m...

Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021
When you think about it, the competitive order has been decided by tyres moreso than anything else. There are three tyre ranges that Pirelli can bring to any given GP. The hardest possible range, the softest possible range, and the middle range. C1 to C3 = used in Portugal and Spain, Mercedes clear...

Re: Who will win the Championships?
New member here. I have introduced myself in the New members introduction thread. I think Red Bull will take both the titles. Max and Checo as a team will perform better than Lewis + Bottas, that is, lets say if Lewis wins a race or two, I believe it is more likely from this point on for Checo to s...

Re: New Member introduction thread
Hi All, New member here from Massachusetts, USA. I started watching F1 in 1998, was a huge Mika Hakkinen fan then. Those days it was hard to watch races in the US, I remember NBCs VS channel started broadcasting them, and not everyone had access to that channel. Thank god ESPN has now made it much e...
