Re: Who's going to be champion?
Whoever wins has earned it. If Max wins he would have beaten Hamilton square and fair, and vice versa. Sure, Max has shown that he still has to develop mental maturity in terms of racing, but that doesn't take away his accomplishment this season. 17 podiums with the worst being P2 is how you win cha...

Re: Verstappen's driving in Saudi GP (split from Official Max Verstappen thread)
I don't think Max would beat Lewis over a season. Sure he will beat him in a fair few races but he isn't the complete package Lewis is. Yes I know he is a lot younger but he has been in F1 long enough now to learn. Maybe it will come in time and people remember him for his driving and not his on tr...

Re: Verstappen's driving in Saudi GP (split from Official Max Verstappen thread)
I hope everyone remembers that Hamilton wasn't the complete driver when he first came into F1, remember China 2007... He had to learn to be honest, remember Australia 2009... He had to learn humility, remember the 2011 season... It took him many years to learn to drive 'only fast enough to win' and...

Re: 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
I am really not buying that Max will try to crash into Hamilton. I don't think even incidents like Brazil or Jeddah will happen, because IMO Hamilton will not have that much of an advantage to make a pass - no engine advantage like Brazil, or RB wont screw up their strategy to give Merc the tire adv...

Re: 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Any ideas on which car this track is supposed to favour? First time I've actually bothered to look at the track map for the new layout I'm gonna go against the grain again (just like Jeddah where in qualy trim RB seemed to have the edge, against the popular opinion) and say that with the changes ma...

Re: 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
There is not a shred of evidence to suggest that Red Bull will be able to match Mercedes in any way around Abu Dhabi. There was not a shred of evidence of RB matching Merc in Jeddah by just looking at the track either. Max fans were jumping on about how the straights would be easy 1-2 for Mercs. St...

Funny how there isn’t a single Lewis fan who objects to me giving Lewis bad luck points in Monza, Because there is no such thing as bad luck points, so at least I am not getting into bad luck/ good luck discussions. I voted Max. Hamilton's impressive fightback ends, as RB's package will have an edge over Merc.
Regardless, both have given us a season for the ages.

Re: Verstappen's driving in Saudi GP (split from Official Max Verstappen thread)
In my opinion, Hamilton would thrash Max in RB16B. Maybe, Red Bull would go bankrupt with all the crashes Max would cause due to his refusal to be shown up ;) You are certainly entitled to your opinion but even as a Hamilton supporter, I reckon Verstappen would have the edge on one lap pace by abou...

Re: 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
As someone who wants Hamilton to win, S3 worries me. Looks like a RB party fest. Also C3, C4, C5 is not helping. Is there a long straight before T1?
I just hope that LH makes up lot of time in S2. Seems like the spicy engine has gone bland. It did not look that powerful last weekend.

Re: Verstappen's driving in Saudi GP (split from Official Max Verstappen thread)
That makes Hamilton’s life very easy and Verstappen’s life very difficult. It was the same story in Brazil, where Hamilton performed 20 highway overtakes, as none of his passes (apart from perhaps the one on Norris) took any real skill. Verstappen is in a very different situation. With a weaker eng...

Re: Verstappen's driving in Saudi GP (split from Official Max Verstappen thread)
Max initially lost the race in qualifying. If he starts 1st then he has a car good enough to win the race as Mercedes was not much faster, it never had the speed advantage to overtake on the same tyre strategy. Red flag completely negated qualifying. Whatever happened in the second half of the race...

Re: Who will win the Championships?
The modifications made to the Abu Dhabi circuit should favour Mercedes who were already favourites so I can't see how Verstappen can win that one. I'm not convinced on this - still think that RB may well be competitive and, quite possibly, faster over one lap - with enough race pace to prevent Merc...

Verstappen has lost 40 more points than Hamilton this season due to bad luck, Max lost all those points due to his stupid and flying rodent dropping crazy approach to driving. Jolyon Palmer's opinion and he is spot on, Lewis said the same thing. How do you race someone fairly who is just willing to crash at every oppurtunity? LH finished 2016 with 4 wins in a row with his back against the wall. Ironically, I was rooting for Nico that year, and was nervous after LH pulled off those 3 wins. It says a lot about Verstappen as a racer that there is so much discussion post Saudi of how Hamilton can survive being taken out by him. When the season started I wanted Ricciardo to win :) But pretty soon reality dawned and I started rooting for Hamilton, only because I want him to win his 8th title. I went with Max and Merc. Hamilton has done well to tie the WDC but I think the run ends next weekend. Max will get pole and win the race. I believe the AD track will suit Red Bull. Lost in all of Max's shenanigans is Hamilton's race. He was on the backfoot for most of the race. Lost his pit stop advantage, dodged couple of Max's "yield or crash" moves, overcame VSCs, the collision, and still came out P1. Max has been more consistent in terms of performance, but Hamilton has sh...

But the weirdest driving for me of the Jeddah race was Hamilton driving into the back of Verstappen. It just didn't make sense. The biggest bonehead moment of the year. Of course it makes sense. Yes, that's what Max was doing initially, but Lewis didn't want to overtake him (for some strange reason he would rather drive slowly behind him instead of just overtaking him).
