Re: 2022 Dutch Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Love the flow of Zandvoort, but F1 cars are too big for the track. They are too big for any track (or all tracks, depends whether the FIA checks the wording). Years ago at Monaco Historical Races, Ickx had to drive a Porsche he won Le Mans with, around the track at a "decent" high speed. The organi...

So what went wrong? Given Ricciardo's past record, for Norris to have beaten him so clearly makes Norris a potential world champ. Is that the truth, or has Ricciardo declined? Re: Ricciardo doesn't have a McLaren F1 race seat in 2023, what should he do?
Back at McLaren when they lose the case and Piastri is sidelined for a year... Do you think that's a possibility? 15 days ago, Alpine looked like they wanted the case to go to the court (or at least to an organised fist fight of barristers behind closed doors) and very sure to win the argument. I w...

There is still the possibility that, despite his tweet, Piastri does end up taking the vacated Alpine seat. If only Piastri himself had realized that, now it may be too late. I don't think it'll be a drama. At the end of the day, if Piastri needs a drive & he's the best driver available, Alpine wil...

Re: The Official Scuderia Ferrari Thread
Is it also in the strategy calls that Sainz’s pitstops are too often slow stops? I find the country game too easy ”oh they are both spaniards so they must be conspiring together”, even more so as A) Strategy is/should be a team game and B) they are generally underwhelming for both drivers. I find t...

Is Piastri burning his ship before even getting on board ? Even Alonso is not that fast. If he ever gets a F1 seat next year, he better be astounding from day one. It's too bad for him. It's believed Piastri's contract with Alpine expired on 31st July. Alpine wanted Alonso to renew for 1 yr as a "seat-warmer" of sorts for Piastri who would join in 24'. Re: Alonso joins Aston Martin for 2023
Not surprised, but horrible news to wake up to. There was something clearly not right at Alpine with Alonso. Either Alonso saw it coming, or was pushed out. It's certainly simpler : If he had a 2 or more years offer from Aston Martin, asked Alpine to align themselves with the length of the AM propo...

Re: Ferrari vs. Red Bull - 2022
The 2 cars are so evenly matched we should have a cracking championship on our hands. But it looks like the only way Ferrari will prevent RB from winning this year is if they gift the F1-75 blueprints to Mercedes. Vowles has made plenty of mistakes over the years, no guarantees there. RB are a cut ...

Just one question now that another championship is thrown into the bin : When does Binotto (and a good part of the race staff) follow the championship ? Re: Leclerc, Verstappen, Russell - Where is Norris?
Fair point but in my mind it amounts to the same thing - it's clear the Championship is possible and Leclerc is carrying that during the race - whether the issues are in the cockpit or on the the pit wall. I do think there's a perception that he is error prone when as you say, more points have been...

Re: Leclerc, Verstappen, Russell - Where is Norris?
:( Hoping France was just a blip.... In my opinion the pressure on Leclerc, if it ever was the reason of his French GP blunder, is not coming from "the stress of a potential WDC", but from the "stress of having to make do with all the points evaporated because of Ferrari's management"... Fair point...

The races Leclerc didn't finish by his own fault at the place he should have reached (Imola 6th instead of 3rd or 2nd, France DNF instead of 2nd or 1st) are not enough to consider he is "dropping the ball". All the other points lost are attributable to Ferrari (stupid strategies and engine failures)...
