Re: Alonso: "Vettel not the best, Hamilton is the best drive

I disagree with Fernando. At the risk of being stoned to death by his many fans, I'm just going to come out with my opinion: Lewis Hamilton is overrated. I think Lewis had a brilliant rookie season but apart from some raw talent, I don't think he has the attributes to be in the same league as Alonso...

Re: 2014 Indycar Champion (Spoilers)

He might even make the news in Australia. A 3 second mention on the radio, that's been it so far. Triple J devoted a good part of their news report to Will Power's win and also had a good joke about Damien Power (Will's brother) who was making some hilarious tweets during the race... Probably the l...

2014 Indycar Champion (Spoilers)

I saw Will Power's first Australian F3 race at Oran Park many years ago.

Well done mate!!! Great to see him finally seal the deal.

Re: Monza - Guess the Top Speed!

According to the official data on the F1.com website, it seems that the cars are 40km/h faster in Monza compared to Spa in both 2005 and 2013 - so that would mean they should achieve about 385km/h at Monza this year. Based on that, and the fact drag increases with the square of velocity, I would sa...

Re: How Monza will likely unfold...

After a controversial Q3 session where Nice Rosberg went out, set the fastest lap early then "broke down" in front of Lewis Hamilton's pit garage, preventing Lewis from participating at all, the scene was set for a fiery exchange in the race... On lap 1, carnage ensued after Pastor Maldona...

Re: Tony Stewart kills driver in accident

My thinking is that Stewart didn't see Ward running across the track because his view was obscured by the car in front. At least I hope so. It's unthinkable that anyone would deliberately do that.

Ricciardo for me. His overtaking never fails and he worked his tyres perfectly.

One question: How many races this year has Ricciardo NOT been a lead contender for DOTR?

Re: Was Vettel a mirage?

Instead of thinking of this year as a reflection on Vettel, consider just how good Ricciardo might be.

Vettel won 4 WDCs and proved he was fast. Very fast.

Ricciardo needed a chance to prove himself, and so far the signs point to him being even better...

Re: Loss of viewers - Loss of interest but why?

Why the loss of interest? A few thoughts... F1 was once about how fast a car could be made to go and driven. The pinnacle of motorsport. Pure racing and performance. Now we have: -Artificial passing manoeuvres -Driving to save fuel and tyres -Constant rule changes that further restrict the engineers...

Re: Perez had "Very Bad Attitude" at McLaren

I like Perez.

His aggressive driving is great to watch, I won't forget him sticking his McLaren up the inside of Button's last year in Monaco. Brave or stupid, either way it's what we want to see.

Not taking the blame for anything makes him a true racing driver by character. More of that I say!

Re: Driver of the race?

He was running in a de facto P5 when Hamilton broke down. Then Red Bull's strategy with Vettel was highly questionable, though Dan definitely deserves credit for some excellent laps at the end of that stint. After that, all he did was pass two damaged cars. If Perez's Force India hadn't have develo...

Re: Driver of the Spanish GP?

Ricciardo was impressive to make the medium tyre last so long in his second stint and at serious pace. Put his podium beyond doubt. Hard to ignore Vettel's drive through the field though. It definitely looked like he'd worked out the car and started to be really aggressive and confident with braking...

There is a big problem with Vettel's chassis.

Re: If every driver had the same car how would the grid line

And yet, it is just as clear as that. Just as clear as Alonso has 2 titles so he must be better than Ricciardo, etc., etc.. It isn't just a matter of titles of course, but rather, what they represent which is experience and skill. The question was how would the grid line up, not how will the champi...

Re: Webber you can't retire soon enough!

I just find the whole intent of this thread hilarious given the timing. Webber has two races left before he moves on. He's retiring. Most drivers retire late, when they have been pushed into slower teams after being unable to match the pace. On Saturday night Webber beat Vettel to pole. Read that ag...

In case I am wrong , I guess we dont ahve very long to wait for Webber's tell-all book now that he is free from the clutches of the empire ! He is still going to have personal sponsorship from Red Bull when he goes to Porsche sportscars, so we might have to wait a while for that one . Even as a Web...

It should have been obvious given that he seemed to fit in the RB9 just fine.

Re: Confirmed: Ricciardo at Red Bull in 2014

This is great news for Ricciardo. I did feel that he may have outgrown Toro Rosso after another year. He has proven his raw speed, you only need to look at his qualifying record against JEV and his past performances in young driver tests for Red Bull to see that. He is a very marketable driver for R...

Anyone who doubts the strength and fitness required should try endurance karting. A couple of hours behind the wheel will have you feeling like you got hit by a truck the next day.
