When ur nearest rival is 10+ seconds behind you and has had to slow up by 0.5sec a lap because he has broken his steering due to running off the track, you can afford not to drive at full wack. Hamilton has had tougher teammates and he has raced during a more competitive era than Michael and yet he is still compiling similar statistics. That's worthy of note. I'd say the 2014-2016 seasons were some of the most uncompetitive in history. The Mercedes dominance was ludicrous, and they still ...

I think we can all safely disagree with the thread title now. Max may have qualified higher than Daniel at more races this year, but there is more to a driver's performance than qualifying. Daniel has performed very well in races all year and his drives from the back of the field have been virtually...

2. Versappen is Ricciardos team mate, and Max had arguably the best performance of anyone in qualifying. There shouldn't be any doubt at all. Ricciardo started in 16th, didn't actually make any positions up off the start then proceeded to carve his way into the top 10 in only a handful of laps. He then continued to the top 5 making some accomplished drivers and a former world champion look like they we...

Verstappen has battered qualifying specialist Ricciardo this season. The score is 8-4 right now and Max just beat Dan by half a second at Spa. Force India do very well with their budget, considering they only put in similar money to some of the minnow teams.

I think a $/point scale is a bit too simple, the law of diminishing returns means money increases exponentially for small gains at the front of the field.

Daniel Ricciardo should get a mention here. Many of his 2014 performances came about because he displayed an excellent ability to save his tyres for a late race assault (to great effect).
