Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2018 Chinese Grand Prix

I think some people need to remember Ricciardo almost never made it out for qualifying at all. The engine change after Practice 3 left him with what... two or three minutes to get out and set a time? Who knows how compromised the car setup etc. was because the mechanics were focussed on changing the...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2018 Chinese Grand Prix

Ricciardo... another aggressive but clean win. It's no mean feat to put such moves on drivers like Hamilton, Raikkonen, Vettel and Bottas and have them come off cleanly at the first attempt. Drive of the year so far. I also gave a vote to Bottas because I thought he did well to get into the lead and...

Pretty hard to crash into another car when you are way out front on your own  I agree with the comment that it's circumstantial. Hamilton had many incidents before he arrived at Mercedes which were avoidable. Since then he's had a car which can pass others easily and spends all its time out in ...

Beaten by Mark Webber as teammates at Williams, but years later takes it to Lewis Hamilton and wins the 2016 title.

He'll replace Bottas in 2019 if he continues his improvement in 2018. I don't think it's a coincidence that he has the measure of Perez now we're returning to tracks he's raced in last year. His drive in Brazil last year is also very under-appreciated, he had a Manor in a position it had no right b...

As many have said, 2012.

So many cars & drivers were capable of winning. It was a close season.

2012 saw Webber win at Monaco for the second time. My favourite driver, winning a classic race in a very competitive season was the highlight.

I'm not old enough to have enjoyed 86-93 :-((

Ricciardo is exceptionally good. In 2014 he was still a rookie and walked all over the reigning 4 x champion in the same car. It's really difficult to answer this. Based only on results, Hamilton is a close second behind Vettel. But these drivers had dominant cars for much of their success. In the first 7 races in 2012, 7 different drivers won from 5 different teams. The V8 engines provided a level of parity not seen in many many years (maybe ever).
