Re: Qualifying perf compared to race day

You can't use DRS at any point in qualifying only the same places as in the race.

Re: flavio claims he has proof he was not involved in crashg

OK, I know I'm gonna get some stick for this but I'm going to ask the question anyway... I know its wrong, I know its dangerous, I know its bad sportsmanship, but.... Did Piquet 'break' any rules by crashing? He didn't crash into another car, he did away from everyone else & he did it to help hi...

Which year had the fastest cars?

As per title. Not the fastest top speed, but the overall speed, over a full lap or race. Its always hard to judge the speed of cars nowadays as even old tracks have been altered so 'Lap Records' become somewhat redundant. So, theoretically speaking - If you took the best car from every year since; l...

Re: Which team invented these technologies?

ok, maybe 'inventing' was a bit misleading. I was more interested in the introduction of the technology to F1.

Eg. Did one team introduce the 'Anti Stall' system & everyone else copied. On was it a full introduction made by all the teams; a bit like DRS.

Which team invented these technologies?

We all know of the designs that can help win championships - the double diffuser, the flexi wing or the F-Duct. Usually a single team is responsible for these innovations & other teams copy them to keep competitive. However, certain innovations seem to creep in without any single team 'inventing...

Re: Unbelievable! Ferrari screws Massa in the first race

I have no idea if Massa got screwed over in the race to let Alonso through, And we will probably never know.

But what I do know is that is always the Ferrari's 'No.2' driver that has all the issues - bad pit stops, bad strategies & poor reliability. Its been like that since Schumacher days.

Re: Why is alcohol sponsorship allowed, but tobacco isnt?

Just to clarify: Tobacco sponsorship is NOT banded in F1. Tobacco advertising IS banned. Marlboro still actively sponsors Ferrari (Until 2015). However, they are not allowed to advertise on the car. So, why do they do this - easy - to sell their advertising space to other sponsors & make more mo...

Testing prior to 2009.

Even though I've been an F1 fan since the mid Eighties, I never took any notice of testing prior to the start of the season. Not sure why - probably because no one else took much notice (no media coverage, no internet coverage, etc) It wasn't until Brawn popped up in testing in 2009 & blew the f...

I'm pretty sure that Marlboro still sponsors Ferrari.

Dont know why, as they arent allowed to 'show' any sign of them - not even the old fashioned bar code.

May I just point out that one of the most successful cars in the history of F1 was the McLaren MP4 -4 19 88 , & guess what what - that was powered by a V6 Turbo! So to say that changing to the V6 is wrong because the engine will sound different is ludicrous! I watched F1 in the 80s & it was...

Re: Why do teams try cover up their cars in the pits?

^ This. Why draw obvious attention to something, you are only going to get a swarm of photographers taking pictures of this area the next time the car leaves the pits & then an army of experts go over the photos to see if there’s anything 'worth nicking' On a side note - why can’t stuff be 'pate...

Why do teams try cover up their cars in the pits?

No, I'm not that stupid - I know they are covering up to hide new parts or new innovations, but is there any point in doing this? Red Bull are famous for this & usually get mechanics to stand & 'cover' the back end of the car when it lines up on the grid just before the start. But what's sto...

Oranges are naturally green in colour. Their colour has nothing to do with their ripeness.

Anyway, oranges aren't important as the 2012 Mercedes was a lemon!

Re: When was the last time there a FULL dry season of racing

Thats a lot later than I thought. The reason I asked the original question is that I think the last few seasons have been affected by a lot of wet races. Some people perform better in the dry compared to others in the wet. If theres a lot of wet races then this 'could' dramatically effect on the WDC...

I thought about this earlier - I think there was a full dry season without any wet racing sometime in the early 90s.

However - I'm going to through a curve ball in & include Race & Qualifying!

Anyone with a better memory than me?? :)
