Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
Hamilton is not ruining Verstappen 's legacy. However, if it is true that the Verstappens are blocking a remotely competitive teammate for Max, then this will taint his legacy for sure. Verstappen beat Ricciardo fairly clearly on qualifying pace in 2017 and 2018. The same Ricciardo who has smashed ...

Re: BRREAKING NEWS. LEWIS HAMILTON OUT OF THE SAKHIR GP THIS WEEKEND.
Bottas will be very nervous going into this weekend. No one should expect much from Russell this weekend, considering how he'll have to get used to what is a completely different animal of a car. If Russell gets a podium I think that's job well done.

Re: Official Valtteri Bottas Thread
So is (was) this Bottas' last chance for the WDC? Or will Mercedes just create another behemoth and destroy RBR again, giving Bottas another slim chance at a title? Imagine that the Silverstone and Eifel GP fortunes were reversed. Bottas would now be right in the hunt for a Championship despite hav...

I picked Sainz and Gasly, completely forgetting about Perez.
No real standouts. I think those three performed very well though.

Re: 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread
A team mate as weak as Albon does absolutely nothing for Verstappen. Having Hulk or Perez would make his life easier not harder. He'd beat them every week but they'd be close enough to prevent Mercedes being able to do whatever they want. Agree. If Albon gets retained, I don't think it'll be a deci...

Re: The idiocy of track limit rules
Replace them with gravel and that'll keep them quiet. Too much moral hazard in F1. Instead of gravel use a layer of coal dust . F1's fear of competitor's cars increasing their "Carbon footprints " would then make it necessary to forbid cars from crossing over these track limit lines for good .

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread
I'd definitely be opposed to driver salary caps. I think a salary should be negotiated between the team and driver, not decided by an external body. If Mercedes cannot persuade Lewis to drive for them for $10 million, then that's their problem. A driver salary cap in this instance could potentially ...

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread
"Currently the salary cap is supposed to be implemented... probably when I'm not even here." Taking that at face value, that gives Hamilton 2021 and 2022 and then he's out. Not that I believe that, mind. The driver soft cap might be implemented into the salary cap starting from 2023. Also, Hamilton...

The team that is probably closest to Mercedes in terms of chassis building and development has been hampered with inferior and unreliable engines since 2014, with no end in sight. Red Bull have made their own bed, now they have to lie in it. They were very entitled and arrogant to Renault and didn'...

...but I do think Hamilton's relative strength is in his race pace, not in qualifying. While Hamilton has beaten all those drivers, it has been somewhat marginal. It's in race conditions where Hamilton generally dominates his teammates. Really? I'm not sure that's what the numbers excluding mechani...

But I just don't see him (or anyone else, for that matter) as being in the same qualifying league as Senna. I can see the validity in your arguments but I feel Hamilton still has a strong claim. He defeated extremely strong qualifiers in Alonso (only out-qualified by Trulli), Rosberg (only out-qual...

Max isn't going to win races and WDC if he isn't in a car capable of doing it. His whole F1 career the best team has had an elite talent in the seat. You only beat an elite talent if: 1) You are also an elite talent in an equal or near equal car 2) You carry a car advantage 3) The elite talent has ...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
Max has two main weaknesses. A lack of patience and a tendency to wallow in negativity. The lack of patience was evident today, and holding onto negativity was evident after qualifying where he was inexplicably crestfallen about his P2 instead of sensing a great opportunity. Fortunately, those weak...

Well, was Verstappen's race not bad either then? I thought Verstappen was pretty poor this race. So what version of Bottas could beat Hamilton next year? The one where he gets absurdly lucky and Hamilton's car keeps breaking down? Otherwise, I don't see it happening. Re: What was more impressive, Stroll's pole or Gasly's win?
The element of luck in Gasly's win is actually quite irrelevant, quite deceptive and misleading in arriving to a judgment here in my view. I don't see how. My reasoning for considering Gasly's win less impressive is that he did nothing more than many midfield drivers do at any given weekend, but be...

Gasly's win
I think RP had the best package in crunch time of qualifying. Gasly drove spectacularly well to hold first place against stronger opposition.
