I understand how the coating will help now, but the quoted 20 hp gain sounds a lot, doesn't it? Given that these gases will still be very hot without the coating, yes it will help to keep the heat in which will help in the way you describe, but I'd be surprised if the difference is so great - again...

Hilarious thread. If Alonso is to blame for something, its for out-driving the car and placing it higher than it should belong, therefore he makes the Ferrari team think that their car is not as bad, and so the they don't work as hard as they should. A team designs a car how they feel is best to make it as fast as it can be within the rules. Then the drivers set it up to their liking. So no the car is not designed to suit a driver. You can't seriously think they decide to design as Alonso likes even though it's slower than how they can make it. ...
