RIC to Mercedes. They need a proven guy, not Ocon yet. Agree with this. I suspect it's a done deal for 2019, RBR already know it, hence their desire to lock in Max. Hamilton and Ricciardo would be a frightening lineup! One of the best ever. Somehow I see Dan as the odd man out here in the big pictu...

Re: 2017 US Grand Prix Race Thread
It will be interesting to see how Hamilton and Vettel handle the start. Vettel has nothing to lose and Hamilton has everything to so Vettel should really be making a lunge into T1. That’s assuming Hamilton doesn’t cover him off on the inside but how will Hamilton feel about sweeping to the left to ...

Theory: Raikkonen overtook Hamilton in order to back Hamilton into Bottas, thereby compromising Bottas' lap and giving Vettel a shot at the front row, which worked ;) hummm, Ricardo and Kimi have the same Q3 lap times 1:33.577...... Kinda sounds like it's a one year deal which is good going for him to keep his options open. Maybe a 1+1 deal if the car goes well. Exactly which kind of goes against this commitment that Alonso is apparently making to the team. How so?. He's a bit long in the tooth for yet another long term projec...

What intrigues me is what this means for Red Bull in terms of engine supply post 2018. You'd imagine Verstappen will have an out in case they do a McLaren from 2019 onwards, but at the same time there must have been some interesting assurances given to Max that would encourage him to commit the next...

The 2 point gap between them in 2012 is incredibly misleading when judging their performance relative to each other, Hamilton destroyed Button in 2012. Frankly, Button was lucky to not find himself beaten by 100+ points in 2012. While I agree Lewis was superior in 2012, Button had serious setup iss...

I feel I need a recap, what negative things about Hamilton have been said? I actually hope that's its more red bulls attempt to cling on to one of the two, because I would love to see DR at Ferrari and Max at Mercedes in 2019. What we need here is a double points Abu Dhabi! I'd say he won the championship in Hungary when he gave the position back to Valterri. Do good things and good things happen to you :) If Valterri beats Seb by 3 points or less then we'll have a huge love in in the Merc garage. Interesting, I remember...

Highlights how bad Kovaliainen was. Vettel outscored him in the 2nd half of the season.j man wrote:2008 should have been theirs. Quite aside from the pitstop mishap in Singapore, I think Kovalainen's 7th place in the drivers' championship highlights how superior the Ferrari was to the McLaren that year.

Garbage idea.
Red Bull have invested a lot of time and money in their drivers. Why should Sauber get to draft say Ricciardo then benefit financially from releasing him?

I wouldn't have believed Hamilton could have lost the 17 point lead he had in 2007 over the course of two races, when a win was worth 10 points. Is it 59 points now that he leads by with 25 for a win and with four races to go? Can he win by just following Vettel home in every race yet? Yep. 42 poin...

Ocon isn't matching Perez. Perez is 11/5 up in quali and 10/4 up on race finishes ahead. Performance wise he is close but almost always behind. I believe Ocon is doing well for a rookie but not so well that peopole would be calling him a stand put driver if he wasn't in a consistently point's scori...

As unlikely as it seems, it's happened to Hamilton himself before. In his debut season, a DNF at the penultimate race in China (team error with tire life) plus an inexplicable technical issue at the start in Brazil handed a virtually-assured title to Kimi. Was as unlikely then as it is now, but the...

If Hamilton's engine goes bang in the next race, that means nil points and a big grid penalty. Potentially a 50 point swing in two races. It is not impossible. Hamilton's points lead is such that he can actually afford for this to happen. Even if he then has a disaster at Brazil and finishes 5th, h...

It'll be at Mexico.
Austin is a Hamilton track, a win there means he needs one solitary 5th place from the last 3 races (assuming Vettel finishes 2nd in Austin which isn't guaranteed given how well Red Bull tend to go there).

The FIA tried their absolute best to slow down Ferrari in the early 2000's and Red Bull in the early 2010's. They haven't really made much of an effort (surprisingly) to slow down the Mercedes engine in recent times. They could probably find something illegal in every car if they looked hard enough...

Palmer is in no way as bad as some people make out. No, he's obviously not as quick as Hulkenberg but that doesn't make him bad. At Spa he looked good to out-qualify Hulk before his car let him down, again. Today he was only 0.14s behind and could have beaten him if he hadn't taken too much kerb in...

It's something that F1's management need to look at.
Given the crowds expected for MotoGP, there's clearly an appetite for motorsports, they need to try and understand why MotoGP is attractive where Formula One isn't.
