Re: F2 & F3

Strong words from Renault's Academy Director on the performance of their young drivers this year. Suggestions in the twitter comments that it could partly be a justification for hiring Alonso instead of promoting someone from their young driver programme. 1339938625195261952 Personally think he has ...

Re: Why haven't Red Bull signed Perez?

Delighted for Perez, a much deserved chance in a team towards the front of the grid. I hope he can make the most of it. I feel sorry for Albon, I think he was dealt a bit of a rough hand in hindsight but no complaints about him being dropped. I hope he gets another shot in F1 somewhere but wouldn't ...

Re: Why haven't Red Bull signed Perez?

They wont sign him for 2 reasons… First they want to continue to project to the world that their YDP is one of, if not the absolute best in the world and prefer to field Albon one more season at least, and the other reason is because they are perhaps afraid that Checo might match and even beat Max ...

I wasn't aware of any concern caused by the existing 4-hour limit that wouldn't also be a concern with a 3-hour limit (cases like Suzuka 2014 whe...

No.

They could have announced he was going beforehand so he'd have got a more public goodbye but he knew anyway as he said it after the race.

Jeez, Matty has really nailed his colours to the mast on pretty flakey ‘evidence’. If she seriously has issues with what went on then attention seeking social media media posts, which are plenty vague enough to allow the reader complete creative license aren’t the way forward. I’m still highly scep...

Re: Could Red Bull have been faster than Mercedes since Turkey?

I think you can make a case for the cars being equal over the last 4 races with the balance slowly shifting towards Red Bull being better, certainly they could have won 3 of the last 4 races. It kind of goes in line with Mercedes having stopped development of the car months ago whilst Red Bull carr...

Re: Could Red Bull have been faster than Mercedes since Turkey?

I don't even think it's clear that Red Bull were faster in Abu Dhabi. To me, that depends on what one thinks of Hamilton's form. I think we can ignore Max in terms of the competitive balance of the cars. Instead, we should look at Alex Albon; how close he was to Hamilton means that either the Red B...

Re: 3rd in WCC will go to?

I'm really pleased that Racing Point's rule breaking cost them something and McLaren gained from employing two good drivers rather than Zak Brown's son. McLaren probably had the 5th fastest car on average. Racing Point had easily the 3rd best car but got side tracked focussing on the weaker driver....

Today's race was the most boring of the entire season. If it's true that Mercedes "turned-down" the performance of their cars due to MGU fatigue, then they surrendered the race to Red Bull for no reason. So what if one (or both) Mercedes break down. It's not like Merc couldn't afford to lose the po...
