Re: The Official Fernando Alonso thread
Just read parts 1 & 2. The bit about Hungary in part 2 is very interesting, never heard some of the detail before! If true, the allegation that he wanted the team to let Hamilton run out of fuel during the race, is a sign of a massive character flaw. A different man would have taken the higher grou...

Re: Appropriate penalty for Max's actions?
Ironically the engine issue Lewis had probably stopped him getting past Ocon himself, which would have seen him be a buffer between them.

Re: 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix Race Thread
If this had not been a back marker trying to overtake the race leader, but simply a fight for position, who would have got the penalty? In my opinion it would have been Max. Is there a written rule that switches the blame when the race leader is involved? I honestly don't know, that's why I'm askin...

Re: 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix Race Thread
Whatever the rights and wrongs of Ocon trying to unlap himself, I find it idiotic of Max to just slam the door shut on a car that was pretty level to him going into the corner. Seriously, where did he think Ocon was going to go? I also find Charlies comments a bit strange when he says it doesn't mat...

Was there a driver Lewis didn't impede? Alonso, Vandoorne, Stroll, Gasly, Hartley, Ocon, Perez, Hulkenberg, Sainz Jr,, Ericsson, Leclerc, Magnussen, Grosjean, Ricciardo, Verstappen, Vettel and Bottas. That's 17 and Raikkonen was debatable. Sirotkin was doing something out of the ordinary and caught...

None of them. Vettel has had a few errors but so has every driver on the grid. Vettels have been magnified because of being a WDC challenger, something the others haven't had to put up with. A few error's  You can't be in a championship battle and make that many errors, how many times did he s...

I suppose an appropriate question to ask would be; what manner of heroics can restore Vettel's reputation at this point? A season like this will be hard to bounce back from and beating Charles will more likely impact Charles's reputation than Vettel's. Could Lewis bounce back from 2007, 2010 and 20...

Vettel to beat leclerc by 25/30 points. Once Leclerc gets a win I can see him being right up there with Vettel. I think that'll happen after mid season though.

I'm not really surprised that the armchair experts continue to believe, that they know the strengths and weaknesses of the various F1 drivers, better than the professional teams. IMO, he is rather another Vandoorne. Time will tell. Don't agree. Russell is winning the F2 championship in his rookie season. Vandoorne lost out as a rookie to Jolyon Palmer! I can see Russell enjoying a far more successful F1 career than Vandoorne. Vandoorne's career up to that point was stronger...

Re: Verstappen vs. Vettel Japan 2018
Looked like an opportunistic dive bomb to me. Looking at Max's on-board, he'd committed to his line through the corner well before Seb slung it up the inside. Even if Max had taken a wider line, Seb's closing speed was such that he was very likely to make contact with Max. If someone had done the sa...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2018 Russian Grand Prix
F1 has nearly always been like this so why now the need to devalue the WDC? Personally, I think a healty devaluation of the WDC is overdue. The WDC is almost all about the car, and yet because of the way it's presented we have a majority of fans who consider F1 to be a drivers' championship first a...

Not sure why Alonso's been brought into this debate, but here goes. Alonso is one of the top drivers of the last 17 years but will never be above Lewis IMHO. Lewis more than held his own when they were teammates, as a rookie no less. Alonso gets far too much credit for beating a bunch of journeymen...

Re: Is there any doubt anymore about Hamilton vs. Vettel?
For me, I think this season has confirmed that Lewis has the upper hand between the ears. I fee they are both close in terms of speed, but Hamilton is mentally stronger. I’ve always thought Sebs weakness was the mental side of the sport, dating back to when he was at TR, and he collided with Webber...

That was some lap from Hamilton. Verstapen too. It seems an ideal setup for a fun race tomorrow given that Ferrari have more pace than they showed there. Vettel will have to match Hamiltons Monza start and be aggresive, forget last year. For elite level drivers such as the top three today, every so...

It appears that Mercedes have stolen the march here. For the first time in a while they seemed to have the car to beat on the day. Of course the performance from Hamilton helped immensely. That was no ordinary lap and I'm quite certain that the laps that Lewis and Max produced were every bit as imp...

Incredible banker lap. Not sure anyone's going to beat that. Probably because it wasn't a banker lap. Only technically as it was set on the first run, but not in the true sense of the word, no. That was probably the best qualifying lap we've seen in a while. Why? Why was it better than, say, Kimi's...

Reading some of these comments make me so happy.
Just seen the onboard lap.
Hamilton's was pretty special and right on the limit.
His detractors will just spew the usual bile but it just makes me smile.
