Re: Should the radio rules be changed?
The cars have become very complicated and there are also very many different switches on the wheel to make changes in settings. Everyone knew that going into 2016 the drivers would not be able to resolve issues with the assistance of engineers in the pits but rather have to manage the car by themse...

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread
Perhaps it wasn’t obvious with Hamilton whether it was the mode or the car as he needed it more or less right from the start so got the problem early on. Rosberg was able to conserve the engine and didn’t need to be in a more aggressive mode. When he did change it was probably a straight forward dec...

Apparently the issue was with the engine mode and affected Hamilton from lap 4. Shame if true as would have been nice to see a bit more action as he attacked Perez and kimi.

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread
Maybe Lewis should spend some more time in the simulator and work out what the steering wheel switches do. Damn it oz you took my post LOL. ;) I recently read how simulator time is much less about the driver learning the track and much more about getting the set up for the car/track right. I would ...

Didn't really want to weigh in on the Turn 1 incident, but did find it interesting that in his race analysis Pete Windsor not only calls it a racing incident, but goes as far to say that he is happy to see incidents like that do not flash up as "under review". I am not saying he is right. But I am ...

Experience and contract length aside what do we think of the prospect of Sainz at Ferrari?. A goer or not?. Would he trouble Seb?. Bad move, good move etc... I think it would be good. Sainz has the speed to be interesting. Verstappen usually looked more dynamic in races but maybe with experience his...

Re: 2016 Official Canadian Race Thread
So Hamilton is criticised as looking for recognition, and criticised for his celebrity lifestyle that stops him from performing on race day. Fair enough. I will continue to enjoy him rack up the titles, have a good tussle with Nico, and look forward to future battles as Ferrari and Red Bull catch up...

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread
I'd argue the clutch is perfect for Mercedes right now - repeat of 2015 wouldn't be great anyway, Hamilton dominating from the start and winning with 7/8 races to go. Right now it keeps things interesting. Still, they will surely get their head round it sooner rather than later. Those Ferrari's have...

This kind of incident where the driver on the inside line closes the door through the corner happens fairly regularly – possibly even once every 3 races, and yet we still get 5/6 pages on it alone. Re: The Official NICO ROSBERG thread
Nico has made some bad judgement calls these past races, in Monaco he shouldn't have been so quick in letting Lewis by and in Canada he should have backed out in the first corner and been more patient, his time would've come later in the race. I doubt it. There's a reason why Lap 1 Turn 1 is so imp...

Re: Define the strengths and weaknesses of Merc/RB/Ferrari c
Right now Ferrari seem to be within striking distance of Mercedes. Based on his comments, Hamilton could probably have done a better lap on Saturday but I still think there's only 2-3 tenths between the Mercedes and the Ferrari right now. Certainly that's a far cry from the dominance of recent year...

Re: 2016 Monaco GP race thread
For me the stewards got it spot on, as clearly from the discussion on here it is far too subjective a decision to justify enforcing a penalty whereby the lead driver has to relinquish position to the chasing driver. Even if you look at the Rosberg-Hamilton incident in Montreal, which seems much more...

Re: Ricciardo Vs Verstappen - Who will come out on top?
One of the Red Bulls had to mirror Vettel on the 3 Stop. Vettel was around half a second quicker than DR after the second stops, then dived into the pits as soon as he got the gap down to 1s. If Vettel had the luxury of spacing out his second and third stop, without anyone matching his strategy, he...

Re: "Nico can be replaced by Alonso" - Is Wolff Against Rosb
Surely a bargaining standpoint from Wolff. Rosberg is probably pushing for a similar wage to Lewis on the basis he has a sizeable lead in the championship. Mercedes will perhaps not go that high for both drivers.

I think the traffic didn't help Ricciardo either for what it's worth. Did he not lose a fair chunk of time behind Palmer at one point?. I'm not overly sold he was struggling on the Mediums either, he responded when Max got within DRS range by going a couple of tenths quicker than Max in back to bac...

Ricciardo had the race won and they put him on the wrong strategy. Its still a bit unclear their motives behind doing this. Did they though, or was it just a combination of the three stop not working quite as well as planned, plus being compromised by Vettel making his 3rd stop so early for the und...

Today isn't that good of an indicator. It was Ricciardos race to win had RBR given him the better strategy (which they probably thought they did). Verstappen was very impressive this weekend though and proved that he is the real deal, especially as it was the first race with the team. I still want ...

I don't think many would disagree with that fundamentally, but before you can even consider reducing/removing the DRS they would first need to address the aero to make it easier for cars to follow.

Think the starts are going to be absolutely crucial over the season, and if Hamilton doesn’t get that sorted then Rosberg is good enough to punish that. While I'm not convinced they have made the right changes, cricket seems a pretty bad comparison when arguing against change. I thought the introduction of Twenty20 just over a decade ago was tremendously successful, drawing in huge amounts of money and new fans to the sport?

Well, Ferrari believes a pseudo-manly image caters to their target market. Guessing the 700 odd staff who work at Mercedes would be pretty quick to disagree with Vettel. When you combine that with the amount of laps Mercedes did in testing it is p...

Had actually been thinking that DR has had a great start to the season. He may have only brought the car home where it deserves to be but I think he has done it much more comfortably than the performance advantage to the cars behind should allow. Hard to know for sure this early on of course.

I don't think Vettel would have been any closer to Rosberg than Kimi was. Rosberg would simply turn his engine one notch up and coast to an equally easy win.
