Re: 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

I think that if McLaren qualify well today, they might cause a bit of an upset and be best of the rest, ahead of Mercedes and even Ferrari.

Re: 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

If a missile was able to strike so near the circuit, how can anyone give reassurances that a second one will not strike the circuit?

Get out of there!

If something happens, if someone is hurt by an attack, I hope the people responsible for not cancelling this event, go to jail.

Bottas is out of the car with no fast laps set, just 2 outlaps. His Alfa Romeo seems to be carrying some issue related to the misfires he reported earlier.

I'm hoping for them that some object caused this. If it just fell apart without any sort of impact, that's going to really hinder them this weekend.

Edit: Looks like this was a new spec sidepod and they are removing the left one too, maybe to fit an older spec on.

Ocon's Alpine bodywork in the main straight.

No crash, apparently just bodywork pealing off at speed.

It would be incredibly unfair if they change the rules about weight after the fact, just because some constructors didn't get it right.

New Ferrari looks cool with black. Air intakes on the sidepods are so large, the nose is low compared to Aston. I'm wondering whether they've missed a trick with the front of the nose attached to the bottom element of the front wing, while others have left a gap there and attached it to the second ...

So far the Aston Martin looks like the most "purposeful" design aerodynamically. Interested to see where they line up this year. Maybe that's just me wishing for a shake-up in the order this year though.

How many times to Pirelli tyres have to prove dangerous for F1 to ditch them and go back to something like Bridgestone?

Those accidents at 200mph+ could have turned out much much worse.

I'm happy to watch unpredictable races, but not at the expense of the safety of the drivers.

I think it is worth trying. My issue with it is I thought they would add a proportional amount of available tyres. Also, I think the points being awarded for a 1/3 distance race should be 1/3 of the points or thereabouts. Otherwise it is simply not worth the risk for most of the field to go all out,...

I just read an article about the proposed Saturday sprint races. What it doesn't mention is, what decides the grid order for the sprint race? Will practice 3 b...

It's not surprise that the Ferrari-Vettel relationship has soured. That said, the fact that this puts Vettel in an Alonso-like position is sy...

My gut feeling is there is not going to be an Australian GP. At least not in March. With respect to the rules, 5.7 says the event may be cancelled if there are less than 12 cars. That is a little ambiguous. It doesn't say it may be cancelled due to non-attendance ONLY if there are less than 12 cars....
