We are seeing the result of a talented racer who started his career in the best car and believed too much in his own ability. Now that he is "mortal" his world view is being challenged and - for now- is acting like a little boy who lost his favorite toy. The Torro Rosso was the best car? His first ...

Wow, the first time since 1992 that a team has led every lap of the first four grand prix - that is certianly a measure of Mercedes' success.

Re: Seeing a live race - is it worth it?
It appears i'm going against the grain here... I'd say no, it's not worth it. The cars are moderately interesting in the flesh but it's not mind blowingly different to tv in terms of the impression of speed, I can't really relate to what others are saying. Yes, it appears quicker than with the tv pa...

Re: Double points for season finale from next year
Twitter suggests the 'great and the good' of F1 commentators are as baffled as we are; I just hope that something can be done about it.
As Pedrosa_4_Ever says, it might get dumped before the year starts but I don't ever remember the medals system being announced by the FIA with no consultation.

Re: Custom Driver Numbers To Make a Return
I don't like it. First, because the numbers are invisible, and according to the team bosses they will not be any bigger because of the costly sponsorship places. What's the point? Second because choosing the number will only benefit current drivers, any new driver needs to pick up numbers from 30 o...

Sorry if repost - interesting article hear on the 2008 honda v8. Nice to see teams lifting the lid on this sort of thing now that we have the v6s coming, would be interesting to see someone else do the same. http://www.racecar-engineering.com/articles/f1/hondas-f1-engine-revealed/#.UpMcsz-8x0N.twitter

What I found absurd in yesterday's quali that they only continued the session when the track was dry enough for intermediates. What's the purpose of having full wets if they don't let them drive in conditions requiring them? The full wet situation is at times ridiculous, but maybe the reason they s...

This is no different to a team dominating in any other area (aero, suspension etc.), in fact, it's the very essence of Formula 1. Or has that been forgotten in the few years of frozen engines?

Re: Silverstone Practice and Qualifying thread.
So people not actually on the track are in a better decision to decide what is driveable? Drivers want to win, they are quite capable of crossing the danger line in pursuit of this. So the driver shouldn't be able to choose what risks they take? That's madness and doesn't stand up to much pressure,...

Fantastic 'rant' from Gary Anderson - if the drivers think it's too dangerous - they can pull over and park it! If they think they can drive and they put it into the barrier - tough I disagree with him. Why push drivers into killing themselves in bad conditions? That's the point, they can choose no...

i think the fact that Lewis, who is usually up for it, suggested over the radio for a red flag was a big indication just how bad it was out there with the spray Exactly. Re: Silverstone Practice and Qualifying thread.
Every single time it rains most of the board gets massively excited, and I say that this kind of thing will happen and it'll be red flagged. Why does no-one learn? This is how Charlie Whiting and F1 now deals with these situations. Gary Anderson is correct.

That is what usually happens when it rains like this, despite most of the board celebrating rain; it usually results in a boring start and most of the race under the SC.

Out of interest, if a driver gets pole and then subsequently take a penalty on the grid, does it still count as that driver having got pole? One would think it would because they were fastest in the session, but i'm not sure.

If only they didn't decide to have the race at a time of year that means torrential downpours are more likely which stop everyone from watching a full (or even any) racing; but, not just that, they make the race later in the day which makes encountering that kind of rain even more likely. Stupid as ...
