Re: How will Russell perform against Bottas?
I would not bet on it but I suspect George might get pole position. He is known to be fast and I think he may be hiding some techniques other drivers overlook. I don't think Bottas has the extra something to stop him, despite his experience and familiarity in the car. Russell doesn't have much to lo...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix
Romain Grosjean won his life thanks to his training and quick thinking. After a 56g shunt and passing through a safety barrier, he managed to escape a burning car filling his helmet with black smoke so he could not see. Not every driver would have found a way out of that smoking wreck. Winning the r...

Re: Could next year be Vettel's final nail in the coffin?
I doubt it. He is the only other WDC on the grid at the moment other than Lewis (and Alonso next year who was last champion almost 14 years ago). He will be valuable to any team until he chooses to retire.

Re: Stewart: Hamilton not at the level of Fangio etc
Let's make no mistake, Hamilton is better than Schumacher or Alonso ever was in absolutely every single area. Lewis is a clean racer, excellent risk manager and thinks outside the box. I doubt Fangio would get a race seat in F1 today given he wouldn't even fit in a modern F1 car. I cannot think of a...

Re: Honda to quit F1 after 2021
First off, it is tragic for F1 to lose one of only three engine manufacturers. However, Honda has once again come back to F1 with an awful engine, rose to mediocre, started to show real promise...then they quit. Again. It is sad to see an engine maker leave the sport, but to heck with Honda. Stay o...

I believe BMW were demanding a controlling stake. Even if not i'm not sure why you think they would have stayed involved after 2009 instead of pulling out. I thought this deserved a thread as well. Possibly the most iconic racing livery of all time, perfectly matched with the papaya orange of McLaren. I think we could see McLaren win again someday with the right engine. I do feel the need to find a unique engine partner though to win the championship.

I think Baku 2017 was the turning point. He threw away his composure. After that the pressure and mistakes cost them driver and team dearly. It's a shame Vettel could not pull one championship out of the bag at Ferrari just to cement his status as a top F1 driver and not just the beneficiary of a do...

An exciting F1 format with a balanced and fair playing field ought to look more like this: 1. Qualifying 2. Forward Grid Race (from qualifying positions) last approx 1 hour 3. Reverse Grid Race (from qualifying positions) last approx 1 hour 4. Aggregate Times decide winning positions Fastest Qualify...

Yeah I think Vettel to McLaren makes sense with them having a German engine next year, and then Vettel has a route into Mercedes should Lewis leave (unlikely for a while). It's a bit sad that he had the car to win the WDC in 2017 and 2018 but threw it away thanks to mistakes by both him and the team. He really should have accepted the pay cut unless he had an offer at Mercedes. He could win races at other teams but to win a championship again at a team other than the ...

If worse came to the worst, and F1 was cancelled for 2 seasons (this is a very real possibility) I am sure most or all the struggling teams would simply be bought out by somebody. The furloughed staff and organisation still has future value.

Re: Silverstone in reverse.
It would be interesting if they ran circuits in opposite directions alternating each year but I think most drivers would find the change a bit nauseating as the circuits lose their flow and appeal somewhat. I think most modern circuits would be safe as the runoff areas are too generous anyway. Any d...

LeClerc might look good now, but another 3-4 years without a Ferrari WDC and they will change drivers again. The trouble is if he was at Ferrari, then Verstappen, Vettel or Riccardo would be at Mercedes by now, or Rosberg racking up the World titles without him in the way, and we'll assume LeClerc is his team mate. McLaren should have held on to Honda longer. They need a tie up wit...

Spa has always been dangerous but I think we have to remember that if we want close racing, you are going to get t-bone situations and multiple car pile ups which the cars simply are not designed to handle. If a 200 mph car hits an unsighted static vehicle, there is not much science can do the save ...
