Re: School shooting in Connecticut. Many dead and wounded.
An officer shot and killed in the UK. Reading some of the articles one line jumped out: "since the beginning of the 20th Century 73 police officers have been shot and killed by criminals in the UK, excluding all deaths in Northern Ireland. The majority of those deaths - more than 50 - have occurred...

Great read Blake. Glad that despite our efforts to frustrate you, you enjoyed your short stay.
If you ever get a chance for a longer visit, then, as Minchy said, head north for a bit (he's a White Rose, I'm a Red). It's really quite nice up here

Re: Ferrari - A secret brew
The oft-quoted rule on fuel is that it is '99% identical' to pump fuel. The remaining 1%, however, apparently makes a lot of difference... I thought I read once that our DNA was 99% the same as monkeys, so depending on your viewpoint, that 1% can make a big difference or none at all... I believe th...

Abd therein lies your problem, as many others do not. They are not synonyms To go away from motorsport as an example: Jesse Owens' World Record for 100m was 10.2 seconds - a time now regularly achieved by many US college sprinters. Would you consider that each of those is better than Owens? Or woul...

Re: Best F1 driver ever?
I think you've done a very good job of creating a metric for the most successful drivers ever. Best though is a different story. I admire your effort. Well to my mind 'most successful' still = 'best' I'm afraid . How can you claim to be the best at something if you haven't proved it by results? Per...

Re: Best F1 driver ever?
A lot of people make the point that success in F1 is car-dependent. Fair enough, but as I think I said, the best drivers tend to get the best cars, so isn't the playing field thus level again? Maybe it's the statistican in me that wants to define numerically who is the best ! Maybe my way is not th...

my argument is will that be it? One day hey it's only a gearbox next day hey it's only a front wing. I keep saying this and hopefully there are others that support this, F1 is not other series let the team be creative let the teams innovate let them test and from this we get great racing . When has...

Re: Standout Pole Position laps (Particularly of recent time
Not recent, But Keke Rosberg at Silverstone in 1985. I think the first ever F1 lap with an average over 160 mph If memory serves, I think he had already won pole, but the lap was just below 160. So, Williams put on another set of qualy tyres, and he just went for it. I was on the outside of Becketts...

Re: Ferrari might leave F1
If Ferrari were to leave F1, both would survive, but both would be diminished. Never say never, but I still think it unlikely that they would, and the soundbites coming out so far seem like early stage "line in the sand" bargaining positions. Even if Ferrari do not get everything they want from F1, ...

The racing world lost one of it's greatest today as Dan Gurney passed away at the age of 86.
