Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2025 Austrian Grand Prix
I also think that the merit of making the one-stopper work are a bit underestimated. Certainly by Ferrari. Well there was no merit at all for Ferrari. They finish 3rd and 4th either way. In hindsight yes but a red flag or safety car could have brought him on the podium with a one-stopper so I don't...

Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2025 Austrian Grand Prix
I think the main ones are Hulkenberg and Lawson. Maybe Alonso too. I think Bortoletto's result is not as good as many are implying. As is often the case, first points and rare decent / good performances can swing the votes a bit. Hulkenberg after a very poor Saturday showed just how good that Saube...

Re: PF1 Forum teammate wars vote: Austria 2025
As said in the race thread, it shows how bad Tsunodas weekend was, when his team mates race was over after 20 seconds.... and he is going to lose this vote convincingly. Finishing last of the running cars isn't great. Verstappen would have lapped him at least once had he not been taken out. It's not...

Do we get the best talent through the ranks? Well, we have Cordeel, Villagomez, and Shields in F2, we have similar examples of drivers who never won anything in F3. At the same time, Linus Granfors - 2024 winner of GB 4: out of drive Oscar Pedersen - 2024 F4 China winner: out of drive Linus Lundqvi...

So, next one: put Paul Aron into the car! Rumours are Bottas. Any more details on these rumours? Is he a part of their long-time plan, just a temporary replacement driver, or are Cadillac paying to have him in the seat and hit the ground running next year? https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/valtter...

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
Alonso holding back the much faster Bortoleto was masterclass driving! It was partially related to being a rookie / lack of experience as to the fact that Alonso managed to hold Bortoleto behind though. Bortoleto made quite a big error near the end. He could easily have had Alonso if he didn't atte...

Re: 2025 Austrian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
What can be said now that Lawson was able to qualify 6th in Austria? He's the same driver who qualified dead last in his first & only 2 races with Red Bull? Should we assume Lawson has now become that good or can we safely say that the second Red Bull car is the toughest seat to qualify in (Tsunoda...

In hockey I believe you can challenge a goal or penalty or something which will then be reviewed but you will get a penalty if the review turns out unwarranted. Each team gets a single Coach's Challenge per game, which can be used to challenge any goal on a specific grounds (goaltender interference...

In 12 monkeys he was great. In Once Upon a Time in Hollywood he was also good. He can act when he wants I guess, it is the type of movies he makes. But these things are subjective sometimes 12 Monkeys is great in many ways. Definitely makes my top 10. As for Pitt, I also liked him in Inglorious Bas...

I’m a bit late to the conversation on this one but did people have the same apparent dislike of Russell’s character before he moved to Merc? I've disliked Russell ever since he crashed Bottas out and then ran over to his car to hit him on the helmet, and nothing since has made me think it's not fun...

Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2025 Canadian Grand Prix
Maybe if Red Bull didn’t have Verstappen they’d be forced to figure out why whoever the second driver is they appear to not be able to drive the car anywhere close to Verstappen’s pace and that would enable them to have a car that means they could finish higher than the bottom end of the WCC. I fin...

Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2025 Canadian Grand Prix
For me it was an interview that Russell was flaunting his "victory" over Hamilton that I found it a bit... bad taste. I don't know if any of you heard the radio communications on the cooldown lap after Q3. "Talk to me, talk to me" because the team was not on the radio quick enough to laud his perfo...

You mean the dramatic lock up from Verstappen after he'd already gone past Russell. I mean when Russel is seeing Verstappen is alongside him in his mirror, and then erratically slows down on the straight, to try and do him one over. Which is fairly obvious when you see the safety car disappearing f...

Similar plots for time (or %) delta in quali would be interesting but ultimately unrepresentative unless both reached Q3. Possibly but it's a lot of work and I've always focused on race results as that's what ultimately counts. Also tried using some qualy stats a while back and was shot down with t...

At what point do we consider Piastri to be a more complete driver than Norris? Personally I don't think we're there yet but we must be getting damn close. Red Bull must have known there was a real chance that the FIA would give Max a penalty so they decided to play it safe by asking Max to give up the position. Given the (in)consistency of stewarding I don't think anyone here would say there was a 0% chance of Max getting a penalty if he hadn't.
