Re: Official MotoGP thread
Yeah, I saw it lots of times and more carefully. I think it's fair to say that Rossi won that corner and deserved the victory. But mind you, had that been an incident involving cars, then Marquez would've won. Eh... but they were on bikes and Rossi knew this, too 8) I like MM and his hunger for win...

Re: Official MotoGP thread
So now you're allowed to cut the final chicane and win if someone gets to the inside of you? Okay. Yes you do, if the guy getting to the inside of you was doing a stupid divebombing move and still manages to get in the corner behind you. Recheck the videos, in particular the one from the helicopter...

Re: Ferrari re-org
Historically, Ferrari's only real claim to fame is being the only team to have stuck it out in F1 from the bitter beginning through to the bitter end (so far). That alone deserves a LOT of respect, so I am not trying to minimize that achievement or level of commitment, but any idea that they've alw...

Re: Monty has left the building! What will happen now?
This day might very well be remembered as the day Ferrari's legacy ends. In the short run (next few years), Ferrari might very well bounce back to the top. It is probably in their immediate interest, after all. However, Montezemolo was the man guarding Enzo's legacy; love him or hate him, he always ...

I don't want to be Mr Grumpy Spoilsport here, but keep in mind he's so carefree because he has nothing to lose and everything to gain at the moment.
Let's see how he copes with being all year in a proper WDC challenge and the relevant politics, before we declare him mr. Nice Driver.

Re: Stefano Domenicali has resigned
There was political upheaval at Ferrari around '90/'91 and again in '05/'06 Luca didn't like the growing influence Todt & Schumacher had over his organisation and set about dismantling the "dream team" There was upheaval (not just political) at Ferrari after Enzo died in '88. LdM was appointed Ferr...

Re: Stefano Domenicali has resigned
All the talk about "political power play" by LdM in Ferrari, either currently or during Todt's time, is utter and complete nonsense. LdM's word is law in Ferrari. It's simple as that. He doesn't need any power play because he wins by default. The only way LdM will lose his position at Ferrari will b...

Re: Stefano Domenicali has resigned (?)
Well i don't see that, if think they had ear marked Kimi as early as 2005 and both Kimi and Alonso were out of contract after 2006. I agree Kimi was intended for the long term, not as a stop gap. His reputation was sky high by the end of his McLaren days and he was referred to as the fastest man in...

According to the rumors currently flying around, him leaving at the end of the year was the original plan but it was Stefano himself who chose to leave right now, while LdM would have preferred to stick to the plan. Also, apparently, he's leaving Ferrari for good, not just his position as team princ...

Re: Stefano Domenicali has resigned (?)
Surely you mean Kimi? No, I really did mean Alonso although I admit I was less than clear in that statement. I'm convinced Kimi was never intended to be a "permanent replacement" for Schumacher, as in "our top driver for the next several years around whom we'll build another winning cycle", so LdM ...

Re: Stefano Domenicali has resigned (?)
Shame. I don't think he was ever the problem. Luca de Montezemolo is. He's always seemed to want to run Ferrari his own way and not always the best way. He's the last and top chain so the blame should lie with him IMO. He was the one who ended up tearing apart the dream team of Brawn/Todt/Schumache...

Re: UPD: Ricciardo DSQ for breach of fuel flow limit, RB app
this sensor was proven to be inconsistent I'm not sure that's true. It was giving different readings than expected, but all through last run of FP2 and all FP3 it was giving consistent readings. Possibly wrong (which is why an offset had to be added) but not necessarily inconsistent. And consistent...

Re: UPD: Ricciardo DSQ for breach of fuel flow limit, RB app
But (unless I'm wrong about it) fuel injection is controlled by the standard ECU. Can they tamper with that? Can they tamper with the loggings that come out of it? I have no clue, but if they couldn't and you could infer fuel flow from the standard ECU logs, why bother with an additional sensor whi...

The telemetry data is collected by the FIA, that's why we know throttle positions etc during accident investigations. Yes but if the telemetry is collecting data provided by equipment under control of the teams, you can't trust that data since the team could rig the equipment. That's the whole poin...

I read somewhere that di Montezemolo's position wasn't so strong after the nomination of John Elkann as FIAT's Chairman. AFAIK, he is the boss of Scuderia Ferrari. Not sure about what responsabilities (if any) are kept by Luca di Montezemolo, though. Re: UPD: Ricciardo DSQ for breach of fuel flow limit, RB app
RBR have their own system for measuring the fuel flow before it goes to the injectors. From that I would assume that they mean the difference between their system and the FIA system was at one level on the first 3 runs and from then on was at a different level. That would suggest inconsistency in e...

Ahem. While I'd wait a few more races before fetching the axe, I agree with the OP that if this year is another failure Stefano's head should roll. Small question here. I've seen the assumption bandied about that "even the FIA knows the sensor was faulty". Where does it say that? As far as I can read, the relevant part here is: a. During Practice 1 a difference in reading between the first three and Run 4 was detected. The same readings as Run ...

exactly. add a departure of Schumacher, and what we have left is a mediocre, non-inovative and sloppy team whose decline and/or stagnation lasts since the departure of these 3 people. Bridgestone tested their tyres despite the in season ban just fine. Why can't Pirelli? As much as I'm against going back to super hard rubber why can't Pirelli just harden up the compounds a bit for 2014? As for tyre size etc, no one knows how the 2014 cars will look or go like yet. Re: Hamilton stopping on the track - Excluded from qualifyin
Apparently it was a mistake from the mechanic using the fuel rig who set the switch to "drain" instead of "fill" for a fraction of a second, and then the engineers let the car go anyway. I think the exclusion came because Mclaren had to immediately know he was underfueled but instead of calling him ...
