Re: What should Vettel do?

I would disagree with that. Maybe by the end of the year averaged out - although I would say that's highly debatable - but at the beginning the Brawn was much, much quicker and by the end they had been overtaken by McLaren. At no point during the season was the RBR the best IMO. In any event, I was...

Re: What should Vettel do?

Vettel is probably looking to switch this season knowing him. He does not seem like the loyal type. I can just imagine how unbelievable it must be for him to suddenly not have the best car after 5 years, and actually have to struggle like everyone else, I doubt he will be able to cope with such a r...

Re: What should Vettel do?

er, if you are going to be sarcastic you should at least do a bit of research. He joined RBR at the end of 2008 (although he was part of the Red Bull stable long before that), when RBR finished 7th in the WCC and below Toro Rosso, where he was before! I think you would have needed a fairly hefty cr...

Re: What should Vettel do?

He already did that once, at STR, and it gave him the RBR drive. He was gifted exactly zero wins and zero titles. Staying 4 years on top doesn't come without "hard work" and "trying to make the difference". He won 1 single race with STR. Good win but many other drivers have done the same and withou...

They chose Ricciardo, just to prove the Red Bull Driver Program, to please Marko. And do you think Marko will let anyone touch his golden boy? Wait so they put in Ricciardo to please Marko but then Ricciardo can't be successful next to Vettel because that wouldn't please Marko? That makes no sense ...

Re: Webber and Ferrari

I think one of the reasons why Webber really wanted to race against Alonso is to show he was not a second rate driver as Media painted him after being beaten by Vettel comfortably at RBR. Webber knows from the days of Benetton that Fernando is not miles better than him speed-wise. IMO, Webber figur...

Re: RedBull Racing RB10 Thread

Vettel has flat out stated he would not abandon the team merely because they have a poor 2014 season. So your statement that Vettel would leave (when, not if) would appear to have no merit. I didn't say Lewis abandoned his team. Alonso abandoned Macca when the going got tough. We are talking about ...

Re: Alonso & Raikkonen - Differences in driving style?

From a sheer technique point Raikkonen is probably superior to Alonso. Infact technically you could argue Alonso is not correct, hence whilst you often won't hear many driving style analysis featuring Alonso as the fastest driver. Going by the stop watch Alonso's speed probably doesn't get the cred...

Seriously are you asking how did Alonso throw it away in '07? After all those mistakes he made in that season? He threw it away without doubt. The Ferrari is similar to say, Di Resta, for example. Where someone like Grosjean had a terrible first half and a much improved second, people remember the most recent half. Re: Vettel's car advantage?

I prefer to look at what Vettel did when he raced with the same cars as his rivals, in F3 euro. He was mediocre, could barely get a single pole or win. No comparison. Villenueve never won or even challenged for a race win once Newey left him, while Lewis has a been a strong force every year of his career in different teams and cars. JV was a good talent, while Hamilton is an exceptional one.

Re: Vettel's car advantage?

Many think Vettel has had things easy since 2010, that his car was so much faster than the opposition. Using my car-rating stats I scored the gap between the WDC-winning car each season and the next-fastest car: From 1950 to 1959 the average advantage was 0.36%. This was from the 1950 Alfa Romeo 15...

I said nothing about the relative capabilities of the cars but if you want to do that. Vettel lost several points early in the season in 2010 and had a retirement from the l...

Well yeah... Webber has always been considered a qualifying specialist, yet Vettel was less frequently beaten by Webber compared to Alonso being beaten by Massa. Just look at this year. 2010 is hard to call because all of the top contenders made mistakes throughout the season and the final race was a bit of a crap shoot. I dont think its so easy to say that Alonso would have won in the Red Bull for the last 4 years, I certainly think he would have made harder work of it at times.
