Re: Perez dumps sponsor because of Trump related tweet
I think most people who praise Pérez are not aware of one thing: that the offensive tweet was written by a Mexican guy at the Mexican branch of Hawkers. It was a (failed) attempt to play the situation down through humour and by no means an abuse by an American fan of Mr. Trump. There was an immediat...

I'm far to utilitarian for a watch. Re: James Allison left Ferrari?
Joe has mentioned in his blogs previously that JA did not seem to fit in at Ferrari. Even to the extent that he tried to work from home as much as possible. Sounds like a personal conflict with the "serenity" quip. That would be strange because he worked at Ferrari before. Why would he fit then but...

Re: 2016 Hungary Qualifying Thread
In rapidly evolving track conditions the reference is how fast you could go, not how fast you have gone, so whether a sector is purple, green, yellow or pink with whipped cream on top is irrelevant. Yes the track did evolve but there was a full dry line on the racing line. How much faster could the...

In fact, he started in 1973 (well, he also had one race in 1972) with McLaren, which meant that he had a competitive car, the awesome M23, from the start of his career. At the very beginning of his career, he was an ultra quick though accident prone young gun, earning a reputation of "dangerous driv...

Max is doubtless one of the star drivers of the years to come. However, I think it's too early to say he is going to be an all-time great.
IMO, he's been slightly overhyped by the fact he won his FIRST race with Red Bull.

Once again function over form creates one ugly a$$ front end. If a car designed to challenge F1 cars on speed wasn't function over form, you'd have to seriously question its intent. I like that it's clearly been designed to be quick instead of just looking pretty. However, the Ferrari 250 GTO was a...

I think one thing that swayed me to leave was the simple fact that I did not believe that the EU can be 'reformed from inside' as the remain camp kept telling us. Vettel was right this time, but they have far more information at the pit, including relative positions on track, performance of other drivers on the same tyre, expected strategies from rival teams and so on. I think if Alonso had moved to Williams instead of McLaren, with a substantial Santander backing, it would have been a good solution for both parties.
Edit: anyway, Williams was 2nd best in 2014, 3rd best in 2015and seems to be 4th in 2016... You see a pattern there... and not a good one.

Difficult to say if the car is slow because of the engine or chassis. The McLarens were amongst the quickest at the speed traps and chewed their tyres at alarming rates, which could be a sign of good engine and poor chassis. However, it could also mean that the engine was poor and they were obliged ...

Well it doesn't reflect too well on Jenson and Fernando if they aren't abe to score points soon while Stoffel could do so in his first attempt. Vandoorne scored in Bahrein just because two quicker cars (Vettel's Ferrari and Sainz's TR) did not finish the race and, in fact, Button was in front of hi...

Very sympathetic team. And, by the late seventies and in the hands of Patrick Tambay, also reasonably quick for their budget.
