Re: Newey "F1 risks rules stagnation."
Innovation is great if it comes from original thinking and new approaches to problems. But if it comes from a vast array of people in front of computers with practically unlimited budgets then it leaves the sport stale. The FIA are forced to bring in reams of rules and regulations to reign this in....

Re: Alonso and Raikkonen - Who is under more pressure?
Everything except wages. According to Ant Davidson in a throwaway comment which surprised me, its actually very common for drivers not to be paid and they just get their entire salary at the end of the season. Most drivers accept this. It seems more like either Kimi was the exception who wouldn't a...

And let the button bashing begin! Its interesting when people say what he is capable of, at best we could say Australia 2012, Canada 2011, Brazil 2012. Showed his style and maturity in the racing also showed other people in strong cars including Seb that he isn't to be underestimated. Also showed L...

Re: Alonso and Raikkonen - Who is under more pressure?
Some Kimi supporters are a bit over-optimistic. Kimi is pretty much near the end of his career, (he will turn 35 next year) and you guys acting as if he doesnt care of anything. He knows he is having his very last years in F1 and it's probably next year or never for him. If that's no pressure then ...

Re: Button: first test in Jerez will be "hilarious".
I also followed F1 for many years including Button's career, and to me it looks like he needs a perfectly balanced and perfectly smooth car in order to shine. He complained lots and lots of times about his car not being good. Who knows, maybe he will do well with the Turbos, but I dont think so. I ...

Re: Alonso and Raikkonen - Who is under more pressure?
Alonso. He loses to Kimi and his stock will fall rather dramatically given most seem to assume Kimi isn't the driver he was 8/9 years ago. If Kimi loses to Alonso then it was expected by the paddock really. I think most of the F1 set expect Alonso to have the upper hand. I also think they expect hi...

I think Alonso.
I really do believe this is just a job for Kimi and as much as he'd enjoy another WDC, he'll retire happily with all his money.
You get the impression that Alonso will cry himself to sleep for many years if he doesn't get at least one more WDC.

I'm not actually sure. I tend to find myself supporting different people and teams each season and it's not a conscious decision, we just get to some point in a race where I find myself rooting for someone/people. 2013 seemed to be Webber/Rosberg, who knows what 2014 will be!

If Kevin can score half of Jenson's points then i think he will be doing OK. I think to much is expected of rookies these days. Half the points with a few flashes of brilliance and he will be doing fine. I agree that it's a lot to expect Kevin to beat Jenson. I was responding to Alaaddin saying tha...

I forgot to say, I really don't think Button is gonna be pleased with these new cars and I don't think he is gonna benefit much from it, as he does have a very smooth style and driving smoothly with these cars should not be easy. Actually I think Vettel does handle the cameras well. He gives out very good interviews, and can (and will) crack some jokes or do impersonations and get people laughing. Even Murray admitted on camera that he was smiling inside but his face never shows it. People were slagging off Ryan Giggs when he won it a couple of years ago too. Not convinced about Perez yet. Wasn't convinced last year after his 2nd half performances. But Hulkenberg sure is good signing for FI. But Perez should be bringing in some serious cash. It should be good for FI who have over years managed to achieve a lot with very limited budget. So in a sense, it...

There are reports that Marussia, Caterham, FI, Sauber & Toro Rosso all have pretty comparable budgets. Based on that you'd expect the backmarkers to be capable of improvements or at least challenge for points. If they can make the most of their budgets, there's no reason there should continue to be ...

Whenever someone criticises the modern F1 the defence is always "it's essentilly the same as it was whenever" but to me this just highlights how poor the sport is becoming - all other sports have evolved massively since the early 90's with players getting stronger, fitter, smarter and quicker. Sooo... Make the race twice as long? They could make it a double header. Qualify on Friday, first race on Saturday, the second on Sunday. How much of it is due to the characteristics of the cars though, kleefton? Could very well explain some of it but Webber does not look as smooth and relaxed as Vettel in the same car does he? Everything in your view of his brake choice is assumption. My view at least has a little bit of evidence: he talks about the mu. Both the above are very impressive assessments. I don't understand... what's wrong with the GP2 cars as they are? There seems to be a reasonable but smallish gap to F1 cars.
