Re: Evaluating Schumi's legacy

Any link? I think it had to do with changing the braking towards the left pedal, right ? Anyway, it ended with him ramming into hill. No, not really. Braking with his left foot was another thing altogether when other drivers were still doing heel and toe. The article was this: https://www.linkedin....

Re: Evaluating Schumi's legacy

Senna pushed a team mate on the wall, crashed (the same driver) to secure a WDC and also slowed down in Monaco to defend his provisional pole. The same things that you list as negatives for Schumacher, Senna taught them a decade before Schumacher. But that didn't stop you having him at the top of y...

Re: Evaluating Schumi's legacy

Because Senna didn't have any dubious moments??? Sennas dubious moments ? Not sure what that has to do with my post; just my opinion if you are referring to Suzuka 90, it was because of them changing the pole position. He should have had the lead going into the turn, it was a case of deliberate pla...

Re: Evaluating Schumi's legacy

Schumacher is a good driver, but as many people have said, he's never had a WDC as his team mate, and after coming back from retirement, and once paired with Rosberg, he lost. He's also had a few dubious moments like parking his car, ramming into others, and so on. If you ask me, I would rate Senna...

Re: Evaluating Schumi's legacy

Iirc, his only WDC teammate was an aged Nelson Piquet in 1991 (they competed over 6 races, Schumacher beaten on points). I agree Schumacher's "dirtier" antics exclude him from GOAT, but that should apply to Senna too. Deliberately crashing out title rivals, risking injury to fellow competitors in t...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

Hamilton edges it for me, simply because he has faced better team mates, and never went against the rules of the game.

Schumacher was good, between 1996-2000, and if they had shared the same car, he would have been beaten, as done by Mr Rosberg

Re: BBC's F1's greatest drivers: Juan Manuel Fangio #2

Prost 5th - Senna 1st. WTF? I am not sure what to make of that either. You would think by now, if not tied for the same place, they definitely shouldn't be 4 places apart. I mean, it denigrates Senna more than anything, implying their rivalry wasn't much to write home about. While I understand thes...

Re: BBC's F1's greatest drivers: Michael Schumacher #4

"For this writer, it was all that and more. Above all, it was a qualifying session in Argentina in 1996, when he hauled the recalcitrant Ferrari F310 onto the front row with a display of driving acrobatics that had to be seen to be believed."

Yup, that's about it.

Re: BBC Formula 1's greatest drivers. Number 5: Alain Prost

Thanks for posting this, I had lost sight of the BBC's articles. Ranking the greatest drivers is always a difficult exercise, but since you ask, I don't think I can agree with Prost being "only" number 5. The article fails to mention how driving alongside Niki Lauda may have refined his own driving...

Re: The Official Michael Schumacher thread

All said and done, if Schumacher is retiring, he deserved to announce that first. Announcing Hamilton's contract first is a humiliating way to do it. It is now obvious that Schumacher is being forced to leave. Kimi forced him to leave the last time but Ferrari handled it much better. Where's your r...
