Re: 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Thread
48.12 of the sporting regs: Unless the clerk of the course considers the presence of the safety car is still necessary, once the last lapped car has passed the leader the safety car will return to the pits at the end of the following lap. So it should have been a safety car finish. Now that is tast...

Re: 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Thread
Playing devils advocate for a strange 2 laps, does the rule say that all lapped cars must be allowed to pass (if any are told to do so)?
If not, that will probably be the loophole that FIA use to show the decision was ‘legal’

There are tweets from our domestic, support categories that say they are still happening. All track staff have been told to attend.
If f1 is cancelled, at least we know that our local citizens aren’t worth protecting.

I wonder if there Are any questions about Melbourne- or the next 2 races, going ahead.
Am in Australia, and so far no news suggesting it’ll be cancelled. Things do seem to be progressing for the worse though- on the corona front

I wonder if equal points for quali AND race results were up for grabs, would that make things more exciting. With the race grid a full reverse of quali results. With the same quali and race formats as now.

Re: Crowding off the track at the Italian Grand Prix
If a driver isn’t off the track, unless all 4 wheels are outside the white lines, wouldn’t racing room only need to be enough space left, that allows part of a competitor car’s tyres to be in contact with this line- allowing for walls and obstacles, too.

Re: Radical idea- enforce track limits on all tracks
Perhaps where a steward/camera and AI decides it was an error/cheat manoeuvre, the car is reduced to 50% throttle for 1 second for the first penalty (1 warning- if not blatant) and 2 seconds, 3 seconds for subsequent infractions. I believe the track limit is the limit. Drivers should treat it like a...

Radical idea- enforce track limits on all tracks
Crazy idea. Maybe the stewards could enforce track limits on the full length of each track, in all sessions- with discretion used where extraordinary circumstances are present.
I otherwise don’t know why they both marking track boundaries and referencing them in documentation.

I think there should be a maximum lap time allowed- both for outlaps and another for cooldown laps. Maybe a 120% of a time derived from P1-P3 stats.

Re: 2019 Austrian Grand Prix Race Thread
Not a max fan, but as a end of race move, I’m ok with it. The contact was incidental, rather than deliberate. Drifting wide and crowding out the outside driver, is more often then not, not penalised, and on that basis, I think this move shouldn’t be.

I feel Max is faster than Dan. I think he may be the fastest on the grid. This year he also seems to race better, so I think if Dan was his teammate again, it would be quite consistent- that max quali and race position, would be ahead of Dan. If spending needs to be curtailed, have the limit and once they’re used up, no more race action. Allow the teams to salvage what they can from each engine/motor/etc to bodge up a working car, until everything has been exhausted. There likely isn’t an answer that will satisfy all possibilities and be...
