Re: The Effect of 2021 on Max Verstappen's Legacy
Silverstone, Hamitlon doesn’t get time to size up what might happen as it’s impossible to know which line Verstappen will take by which point it is too late for Hamilton to do anything about it. I do not agree with this at all. In any collision in such a general situation, Hamilton's front wheel (o...

Re: The Effect of 2021 on Max Verstappen's Legacy
2021 is very important for defining Verstappen's eventual legacy. He beat Hamilton head to head in a marginally lesser car. If not for misfortune he would have likely won with rounds to spare. That removes any potential doubt as to how he stacks up against the previous generation. If the regulations...

Re: Official Max Verstappen thread
Max now in top 10 wins list. Could well be well be 7th or even 6th by the end of the season. I think he'll be 1st by the time he retires. I also think there's a chance he breaks the wins record this season. So with 10 races left, Verstappen needs to win 6 of them to equal the record of 13 wins in a...

Re: Is Leclerc dropping the ball?
He does need to cut out mistakes like France and Imola, and I agree with the point made about him not having that leadership quality some of his peers have. I think you could make the case he would have benefited from more years to find his feet in F1 before getting the Ferrari drive. But I will say...

Re: How Long Does Formula 1 As A Sport Have Left???
I don't think the Formula E contract will be a hurdle if the time comes that F1 wants to go electric. For one, we don't know the exact wording, and there's bound to be some wiggle room in there for lawyers to get their hands dirty in. Also we have the following from 2018: Formula E CEO Alejandro Aga...

Re: You can't "award" Pole!!!!!!
I'll inject my own pedantic opinion here, and grouch that 'Pole Position' is a starting position on the grid, not the achievement of setting the fastest time in qualifying. Verstappen has earned Pole Position for the dreadful 'Sprint', but whoever wins that farce will start in Pole Position for the...

Re: 2022 Austrian Grand Prix FP & Qualy/Sprint Thread
That was unbelievable. How close were those three, Sainz again out of nowhere puts himself in there Looks to me that Red Bull are working as hard to make the RB18 to Verstappen's liking as Ferrari are to make the F1-75 to Sainz's. Leclerc can't leave fast enough. Yeah I don't understand it tbh. Lec...

But what if they aren't doing it and built a really fast car without it? If they aren't, I'll be very surprised. They run their car at a collossal rake and ride height already which to me suggest they'll need to run lower in France and may encounter bad bouncing as a result. Where have you seen tha...

Wait. We are aware Red Bull and Ferrari are doing it. That much has been confirmed. What we aren't aware of is why they think it's acceptable and if it's clearly against the rules or if the FIA test weren't thorough enough to deal with it. Do you have a source confirming it? All I've come across is...

Re: 2022 British Grand Prix Race Thread
I disagree with the assertion of poster named Black Flag. The difference bewtween Hamilotn and Verstappen in 2021 and Hamilton and Leclerc this year (2022) in Corpse is that Leclerc is not driver who drives without consideration of the other driver. Hamilton drove the same way last year except Vers...

Happy for Sainz but man what a mess that was from Ferrari.
They don't have the pit wall to win championships, and if they want to make the most of this set of regulations where they appear to be in with a shot of titles in the near future, they need to make some changes.

While the racial aspect is clear cut, the homophobia isn't. I don't think he's insinuating Hamilton is gay, or making a derogatory statement about homosexuals in general. When he says he was getting f'ed in the donkey during that time he's saying he was getting bad luck. It's a fairly common thing t...

I just replied to someone in the Piquet v Mansell thread, but think it's a little off topic. Re: Mansell vs Piquet 1986-1987 Revisited
For me, it is not possible to take a restrospective view of Piquet without taking into consideration what a very, very unpleasant human being he was when racing and, by information in the public domain, remains. On the other hand, in the spirit of fairness, it is also not possible to take a restros...

It seems the FIA TD has had an effect on Toto and he has raised the rear of the Mercedes. He says that by looking at the Red Bull, rake seems to be part of the solution, so they have increased the rake on the Mercedes - which is what the FIA was threatening to make them do. https://www.youtube.com/...

Hamilton seems surprisingly upbeat about that qualifying. Considering they are still 1.5s off and 4th sounds good on paper but with Leclerc and Perez out of contention on the final runs, isn't that the minimum you would expect? Sainz failed badly there. Russell too if that was his decision to go out on those tyres. Sainz said that he knew he was down on Verstappen so he just went for it going through the last chicane but got it wrong losing him half a second and P2 to Alonso. Yeah it's harsh to say he bottled it. He wasn'...

Agreed, I like variety in the F1 calendar and don't mind street races in general, but about 1/3 of the calendar is the limit for me, with 2/3 on purpose built circuits.

I think that given some teams seem to have hardly any porpoising (such as alfa romeo) it shows that many teams have failed to get it under control. Re: What can be done to eliminate porpoising
If it can be accurately measured and monitored as was suggested in another thread on here, then the FIA could impose penalties or disqualifications if they exceed a set tolerance. That will force teams to raise their ride heights, which they and their drivers won't like, since it will make them slow...
