I've edited my post to include that no work is allowed on the cars when they get back to the pits.
That might help with clearing the track after some incidents, to have the cars off the track asap.

Re: 2022 Italian Grand Prix Race Thread
The finish to the race again raised the issue of finishing a race under the safety car. The safety car bunching the field up has been a feature of F1 since 1973. It is part of F1. It has an added benefit from the point of view of close racing in that the field gets bunched up and there are more oppo...

As applied in Austria is perfect. Do that all the time and the drivers stop going off. Seconded. Also voted zero tolerance. Keep penalising the drivers that go off and very soon they will all stop going off. Next could we also please have some consistency with forcing cars off track? Silverstone it...

Well it seems I was wrong totally wrong about this, the FIA are insisting the controls be applied much to the annoyance of Red Bull and Ferrari. Good on them. It's ridiculous that it's been allowed to continue this long -- and I don't care what any resident dinosaur in the paddock has to say about ...

It seems the FIA TD has had an effect on Toto and he has raised the rear of the Mercedes. He says that by looking at the Red Bull, rake seems to be part of the solution, so they have increased the rake on the Mercedes - which is what the FIA was threatening to make them do. https://www.youtube.com/...

I think that given some teams seem to have hardly any porpoising (such as alfa romeo) it shows that many teams have failed to get it under control. I think the teams should be able to do something, but if it effects their speed, I don't think they should be allowed to tweak other areas to compensat...

Re: Aero changes a success?
I think they'd need to trial the no-DRS idea at one race before deciding to get rid of DRS altogether. If they can get rid of DRS and still have enough passing by cars that are close in performance, then it will be a success. Until they can run without a push to pass button, F1 isn't a well designe...

It's interesting to have a competitive and unpredictable F1. 2 teams with 4 competitive cars and the Mercedes, Alpine, Haas, Alfa and Alpha all on about the same level for best of the rest. We haven't seen the new rules apparently, but have been told unofficially what they are. It's a bit like Mercedes pulling out a sheet of paper which apparently only they had, and claiming that that is the rule everyone should be adhering to. From the unofficial info, it suggests there is a bit more ...

It is an interesting grid. Alonso could be difficult for Russel to pass. A positive step, at least there's some consistency now. But what if they're pushed off the track by another driver? They should have also made it a requirement not to force another driver off the track. eg. You have to allow them to keep their whole car within the outer edge of the white line. That...

In the past, it seemed to me that Hamilton wouldn't want to live the rest of his life thinking that Rosberg had denied him the 8th World Title that would have taken him past Schumacher. I voted Perez because Bottas had the potential to be a lot more help than he was, whereas Perez could not get close to Verstappen's performance on a lot more occasions - so had less potential.

I'd guess Ocon is the most likely replacement if they cannot get Bottas back. They don't want conflict in the team. I think Hamilton would want to get to 8 World titles and won't retire. He wouldn't want to retain the situation that Rosberg's win stopped him from getting it. He currently has an off...

I wasn't particularly surprised that the result was affected by decisions rather than the rules. We have had that for many years. Hamilton slid himself off at Turn 1 in Mexico 2016 and was allowed to drive to turn 3 with no penalty. That was to keep the Championship competition alive IMO. We have ha...

Rosberg could have easily returned back to track behind Verstappen, watch his onboard. He is initially turning to move back on and you see him make the decision to cut it and overtake him. Hamilton should have out-qualified Bottas. At Mexico, there seems to then be an option to out-brake yourself into turn 1, slide off the track and then drive to corner 3 and let the rest of the cars catch up to you. They are replacing Bottas because he under-performs in races - that's his pattern. If...
