Re: New Honda McLaren---NO Title Sponsor?

It's possible that Ron Dennis is taking his time to get the sort of big name sponsor that also fits in with his idea of what the McLaren brand represents. A company that can provide synergy and leverage their world-leading expertise to provide value add in their mutual drive to innovate in the perf...

Re: Physics/Maths of F1 acceleration and speeds

For a purely inertial load (mass only), like a rock in space, to get a certain acceleration, you need a certain force, regardless of what the initial velocity is. But if you have aero drag (see the graph in my previous post), then the required force goes up as velocity increases. More and more of th...

Re: Physics/Maths of F1 acceleration and speeds

Why does the car accelerate slower at higher speeds and gears? The two main reasons are torque at the driven wheels and aerodynamic drag. The gearbox is a torque multiplier. As you shift up, the torque multiplication is less, so the acceleration is less, even if there was no aero drag. The second fa...

Re: Results from Kubicas first Rally back

Whether he returns to F1 or not, Robert should be very happy and very grateful. He survived the crash in Canada and the rally crash. Two miracles already. He got medical care that only a few people in the world could get, and that was not available 20 years ago. He is driving a race car and winning....

Re: Maria de Villota Condition Updates Thread

It sounds a lot like da Matta's encounter with a deer while driving his Indycar.

He is racing again, but not at the same level. Recovery took a long time though.
