Re: Vettel an alltime great -- Murray Walker
Why is it that you, and your fellow Seb fans feel that it is so imperative that Vettel be crowned the best. Some feel that winning 4 WDCs verses 2 or 1 by other drivers means that he must be the best. Some do not feel that is all there is to being the best, and that seems to have a whole batch of f...

Re: Moto gp - Phillip Island Grand Prix thread
They couldn't stipulate that the riders MUST come in on either lap 9 or 10 because if it had rained, they might have wanted to come in much sooner. Even if it had stayed dry, the riders had the option to change bikes twice in order to avoid doing more than 10 laps on the same rear tyre. They could ...

Re: Moto gp - Phillip Island Grand Prix thread
Hindsight is always 20/20, two teams interpreted the rules differently. Rule 3 should have been dropped and rule 2 should have been clearer e.g. 2. Every rider will be required to enter the pits and change to his second machine with fresh tyres at least once during the race. This means that the ride...

If Mclaren is an option then it strikes me as an obvious no brainer: they have the most facilities, the best staff, the best finances and even if the car turns out to be a lemon (unlikely) they have the best team mate to compare yourself against, shine there and you can shine anywhere. Re: Button vs Webber?
The obvious easy answer is to say that both have been partnered with drivers considered to be at the top of the game, one has excelled and the other has been outclassed. However that is assuming that Lewis and Seb have similar overall capabilities. What is true is that Mark complains about the teams...

So why not take Marquez' points off him too, for winning as a result of dangerous riding? Surely the threat of Jorge being closer in the championship is a greater deterrent than just taking constructors points of the team? Was there any penalty against Marquez for the move he did on Jorge (was it a...

Re: Moto gp Aragon - Marquez facing stewards
Marquez receives one penalty point for incident. The decision takes into account similar close encounters during the season and adds to the two points he collected at Silverstone. Honda lose the 25 points for the win for hardware and software failures. Honda have since rectified both problems. Has ...

It is simple really. Measure all drivers and cars at first race and determine the highest weight without ballast amongst all drivers. That will be the new standard minimum weight for all cars for the season. If driver gains weight after that during season it is penalty (he will loose whatever few m...

Precisely because ballast can be used anywhere larger drivers are currently disadvantaged by the rules and next year even more so; ballasting the seat area would be the fairest way overall I believe, whether it be the seat directly or a plate on the underside (also a good suggestion IMO). Re: Solution to the weight problem?
I quite like the combined driver + seat weight idea, seems like quite an elegant solution to the problem. As for why it should be done, back in the day a driver was promoted on skill (think Froilan Gonzalez), whereas now we have highly skilled drivers of very normal proportions being discounted from...

I disagree, he isn't off-throttle when the engine sounds rough, he's applying throttle through the apex. I also would say that it sounds like cut ignition, not KERS trickery. Nope, he's off the throttle until the apex and reverberation can be heard on idle power. Other cars do it too though RBR is ...

Whilst increasing the minimum weight of the driver and area immediately around him would be an ideal solution I would imagine it would be impossible to police: how do you measure one small area of a car without dismantling the whole car? The problem at the moment isn't the weight allowance for the d...

Jenson Button is thoroughly emaciated looking and believes the minimum weight limit should be raised to avoid putting him at a disadvantage.
Hulkenberg deserves a top seat, he's been excellent since mid-season last year and has put in some stunning drives in quite poor cars.

Doesn't really matter whether he was in the best car or not, his career has been startling, just like his pace.
