Re: 2021 Emilia Romagna (Imola) Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

Verstappen stopped on issue with what looked like a gearbox issue but I think Sky reported that Red Bull said it didn't seem like a gearbox/engine issue. Tsunoda has taken a second energy store and control electronics, meaning that three of the Honda powered cars are on their second (and final) CE ...

You know, since the limits are already painted with those convenient whit...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

Imagine that he had agreed to play second-fiddle to Alonso that year. Even a repeat of Moss-Fangio would have lead to an epic fallout regardless. Hamilton was too close to Alonso (i.e. winning multiple races on his ability unlike Fisi, Piquet Jr or Massa) for him to be comfortable, even as team lea...

Re: Hamilton's Sportsmanship (split from Bahrain 2021 Race Thread)

Yup - it was pretty obvious to me that whilst Lewis was struggling to close Kimi down from a 2-odd second gap in the dry, once it started to rain / cool, the pendulum swung firmly towards the McLaren over the Ferrari. He would almost certainly have won the race without needing to make his pass wher...

Re: Hamilton's Sportsmanship (split from Bahrain 2021 Race Thread)

Hamilton had made a commitment to overtake and even an attempt to back out at that point may well have resulted in contact (and possibly two DNFs). I think that he made the correct call in avoidance and in ceding the position. How he ceded it, and immediately gained it back afterwards is the point ...

With a wet race, the only thing we can say with absolute certainty is Hamilton will be miles ahead of Bottas.

Looks like Bottas 4.0 (5.0? 6.0?) is already out of luck this year.

It's not nonsensical. In races they both entered, Irvine scored more points despite being utterly outperformed by Schumacher. Johnson talked about context. Then he used a year that was cut in half to make a point. It is ironic to say the least, but maybe my post was a tad distasteful, so I'll apolo...

I guess that our definitions differ! My take is the 'lead' driver taking the normal racing line which will naturally take him to the outside of the track on corner exit. The (attacking?) driver who may be partially alongside either backs off or goes off (and is hung out to dry in my book). I've rea...

Not sure how anyone can conclude it would be a Schumacher clean sweep, considering Schumacher was never really tested by an outright quality teammate (unless you subscribe to the theory that Rubens was just as good as Fernando). As Invade says, a small but decisive edge often leads to a clean sweep...

Schumacher is a good driver, but as many people have said, he's never had a WDC as his team mate , and after coming back from retirement, and once paired with Rosberg, he lost. He's also had a few dubious moments like parking his car, ramming into others, and so on. If you ask me, I would rate Senn...

Hamilton edges it for me, simply because he has faced better team mates, and never went against the rules of the game. Schumacher was good, between 1996-2000, and if they had shared the same car, he would have been beaten, as done by Mr Rosberg Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but to comp...
