Re: Helmut Marco wants telemetry and radios banned

Not often I agree with Marko, but here we are. The driver coaching is ridiculous. Not to mention the unpredictability is all gone because the telemetry tells the team the temperature of one tyre is 5 degrees above normal, and instantly they pass this info to the driver. Let the drivers get in the ca...

Re: Is the Ferrari engine the weakest on the grid right now?

The straight line figures compared to Austria last year are astonishing. A good video on it. Austria was a year ago too and not even the final spec of the 2019 engine. Ferrari were almost certainly doing some trickery the last two years. https://youtu.be/Gdoxyq-wx0g This is a great video to illustr...

"What is wrong with HASS?"

Leads to turmoil, strife, and sometimes war.

For the Haas F1 team - I suspect they are down the same rabbit hole as Ferrari, losing performance on both the car and the engine.

Is the Ferrari engine the weakest on the grid right now?

Looking at the performance of Ferrari down the straights in Austria, it was clear they were missing straightline speed - which they said was down to their new aero being draggy. However, it wasn't just them - Haas and Alfa Romeo were also suffering down the straights. Now this could either be due to...

Mercedes team dynamics

While the off-season is (still) on, I've been reading a lot of new (and rehashed) interviews with (admittedly mostly British and Mercedes folks) people talking about Lewis Hamilton, and today I read a quote from Wolff which made me do a double-take: “I want to do my part to ensure that Lewis Hamilto...

Re: Was Ferrari infringing on the technical directive before

This isn't any different (in my mind) from the flexi-wing thing for which RedBull and Newey were (largely) admired, or even the blown diffusers - the FIA sets the rules, figures out the tests, and the teams have to comply with them. If a team can figure out a way to get an advantage and still be co...

I don't understand the hate for Ferrari here. If they figured out a loophole, more power to them - that's what F1 has always been about. This season feels really strange to me in that if Ferrari keep being the fastest car until the season's end, then over the whole of the season wouldn't they have had the best car overall? This thread sounds so revisionist - put any top driver in the Merc the last 6 years (2019 included), and it is almost guaranteed that they win the WDC. People assuming Ham would win in the Ferrari in 2018 are forgetting that he would have to work with the Ferrari strategy team and reliability issues...
