Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

Completely unrelated, but this race from the RoC in 2011 between Schumacher and Vettel was amazing - Schumacher got a worse start (seemed taken by surprise really), but then smokes Vettel completely. Margin of win is a bit exaggerated by a mistake from Vettel, but Schumacher was already far ahead by...

Re: Hamilton vs Schumacher and their contemporaries (split from Official Hamilton Thread)

A lot of people think that one was Ricciardo's fault, to be fair. I think Barcelona was a 50/50 incident. I can't put all the blame on either driver. Senna defended to the inside and then moved left, but he left room for Schumacher. Michael started going left with Senna, but then cut back right in ...

Re: The Official Sir Lewis Hamilton thread

I don't think anybody really believes Barrichello was at the same level as Alonso throughout his career, but he was one of the fastest guys on the grid in the late 90's - for me he would today be on the same level as a Button/Ricciardo/Sainz, where he is fast enough to challenge the elites, but not ...

Re: Abiteboul leaves renault.

While I didn't see it coming right now, I see this largely as a positive for Renault. Their "resurgence" last year was largely down to Ferrari not being there - chances of someone being on the podium are a lot lower when there are already 6 faster cars, which was not the case last year thanks to Fer...

Also worth noting that when we did see him in slightly weaker cars pre 2014 he was very good but I wouldn't say operating at GOAT level. I don’t think that Hamilton 2009-2013 was as good as Schumacher 1996-98. That’s the main reason why I will always lean towards Schumacher in that debate. I put mo...

Schumi tried it again in 1997 under near-identical circumstances, which makes the defence quite a lot harder. Plus, Senna died in a car and had that slightly unearthly quality about him, so he's a hero to a lot of people in a way that Schumacher isn't. And no, 1994 isn't defensible in my view. Firs...

Possibly the wrong thread but how were Bottas’ tyres in such bad condition? They were younger than Perez, Stroll and Ocon’s I think. 2 reasons: 1. Schumacher would have won more than 7 titles if all cars were equal so it's kind of irrelevant. Thanks, that's sort of what my point was - if Schumacher doesn't sign with Ferrari, it's not like his replacement wins 7x WDCs. Schumacher would still end up with 5-10 WDCs, whether he had signed in 1996...
