Re: Bathurst 1000

I usually skip Bathurst. Glad I didn't today though. Those super-Taxi drivers put on a helluva show.

Love that the winner led a total of half a lap of a 161 lap race.

Re: Jev. Is he stiff not to get a look in at Redbull ?

'Stiff'? It's slang, Australian I think, for unlucky. The harsh reality for JEV is that he is just too damn slow on Saturdays to be a top notch Formula 1 driver. He has notched up a few impressive races during his career, but most of them involved coming back into the points from a poor starting po...

Re: The Official Daniel Ricciardo Thread

The drivers warm up tires and keep heat in them in a prescribed manner during the formation lap. Prior to this the drivers are also prepping the clutch packs to get the correct bite points. Depending on if the teams feel there may be more than one start this procedure may be different. It's a best ...

Re: The Official Daniel Ricciardo Thread

Looks like he inherited Webber's clutch.
Can anyone explain to me what the drivers part of launching an f1 car is? I assume there isn't a foot operated clutch like a typical road going manual car.

What does a driver have to do to get away well aside from have a quick reaction time?

Smart Alonso makes his competitors look silly

The start of the race was hilarious, all the other dumb drivers applied their brakes in order to successfully navigate the first corner. This method was not for Fred, nope, he straightlined it like a boss, gaining two places and then only returning one of them. Next year I look forward to all driver...

Re: The Official Daniel Ricciardo Thread

Another great quali session for Dan, pace comparable to the Mercedes.

Fingers crossed he gets off the line ok and holds his position in to turn one, will be great to see what he can do if he can run up front with the mercs from the very start.

Please don't "Webber" your start Dan.

If you could go back to any formula 1 race in history and change an aspect of that race, what would it be and why? Let's leave out preventing fatalities / serious injuries because they are a given.. For me it would be Korea 2010 and I'd stop Mark Webber from crashing.... thus giving him a much bette...

Surprised Monaco 2006 hasn't been mentioned so much, in what was one of Williams worst years up to that point he used his Monaco magic to pressure Alonso and Kimi for the first two thirds of the race, trading purple sectors with the championship contenders right up until his car eventually expired. ...

I pretty much count myself as a member of the ABV (ANYONE but Vettel) fan club. If that's Lewis then so be it. Vergne's main problem is that Red Bull will never sell as many cans of its vomitous bubbles to Frenchmen than to the Brits and the heirs of the British Empire... As a Webber fan i'm pretty happy to admit this was Mark's fault. When an RBR is overtaking a Toro Rosso usually a gap magically opens and stays open, I think in this case Webber pretty much just expected that Vergne would just stay on the outside. Vergne for his part probably would have left the gap...

Yesterdays Webber problem was genuinely suspiscous.

Today? Just an innocent goof.

RBR had absolutely no reason to want any Webber problems at that stage of the race.

I'd have to say though that Webber's aim was pretty good, that tyre nearly took out Vettel.
