Re: Official 2018 MotoGP Thread
If it was just the two Ducati riders in that final corner battle, then they both would have continued on without drama. But it was the sudden emergence of Dani's bike that spoiled the party, as Dani took the opportunity that was presented to him as the two Ducatis had to wash off speed to avoid cras...

Just a question: are this year's tyres one step softer than last year's, which were too conservative? Was sure I heard Pirelli was going to go one step softer per compound - any thoughts?

Re: Official MotoGP thread
I'm a Rossi fan but also like Marquez as opposed to the Jorge. I'm disappointed with how that race turned out, in particular at Rossi's reaction, which, although was understandable, was excessive due to it being unsportsmanlike. There's no mistaking as to what MM was up to, but Rossi should have jus...

With regards to the local commentators and their boy Lewis, it was the same here for Mark Webber. Not so much with Ricciardo, maybe because he does not need any artificial boost to his credibility. Love the VR show of late. As for MM, even though he is sublimely fast and can destroy his opponents, he is still a very likeable individual. He will need to bulk up though if he wants to out muscle the mass of Rossi's tall frame during the ding-dong battles!

Serious race-craft by Rossi - this guy knows the game, and I would not be surprised if his intention was to get back at MM for running in to Rossi on the previous corner. Rossi getting on the brakes then sitting it up before the change of direction looked a little premature for the apex and appeared...

No question the Mercedes is the faster car. My concern for Mercedes would be Ferrari's untapped levels of development potential compared to where Mercedes is this year. It's a long season ahead. If Mercedes can get heat longevity out of their tyres, then they have it won. On the other hand, if Ferr...

As a Mercedes fan I'm not too concerned. I feel that Mercedes still have pace in hand but Malaysia's high track temperatures gave Ferrari a tyre advantage. I read yesterday that this year's energy recovery for Ferrari is the best of the field, where they're able to use it on command for longer than the others. Once Lewis and Seb were out on their own with Seb in the lead, it looked like Lewis had the speed over Seb. However, we don't know if the Reds were trimming down their fuel usage and trying to minimise tyre wear as well. It also did not appear the the MB cars were exactly destroying their tyres as p...

Re: Which Driver Has the Most to Prove in 2015
Kimi for mine - a most uninspiring year, complete with what looked like a lack of motivation. A good driver should get around a recalcitrant car, especially if his team-mate could. Having said that, we know of drivers that were immensely fast on the proviso that their cars were spot-on to their liki...

Re: Barcelona Testing
I honestly think that the W06 could probably do a 1:20.0 if they ran it on fumes with the supersoft tyre. I very much doubt that Mercedes had qualifying fuel loads (probably a few more laps worth in the tank just so they hold a few horses back) or had turned the wick up to full blast on the engine....

They conveniently forgot to mention the speed traps in the other sectors, which had Ferrari powered cars at the top - that is also key information! Noticed last year that the Ferraris also lacked pace in the wet, which is not as weight sensitive as running in the dry. I'll take a punt and say the Force Indias will surprise a few. The penalty has to fit the crime. Alonso was just out of bounds for the starting position. It wasn't much, but it was still an unfair advantage he was seeking . So the penalty has to negate whatever advantage he sought, as well serve notice that there is nothing to be gained by such a tactic. So it...

penalty system during pitsop: fair?
I think it is, providing the incident caused by the driver is not major. So the rule of taking an 5 seconds pause before the team are able to do anything on the car is fair, particularly where the driver has technically not gained from his wrongdoings. Starting with errors such as parking the car pa...
