I don't think this is what F1 needs. But on the other hand, if they're going to introduce it, I'm really for doing it this way with only 3 weekends the first year.
Limits the potential damage, while it should provide enough data to make an informed decision.

Horner said Albons main struggle was with the car being so pointy, something Max handles well. I haven't been paying that much attention to Perez, can he handle a pointy car well?

When they have their 2 week gap between races, the drivers more or less sit in the simulator all day err day. I'm pretty sure Hamilton hasn't done that whi...

Re: Constant helmet changes are driving me nuts!
While I agree that the helmets are one of the few personality traits the drivers can show, I get so confused by them. When I look at a driver, I almost always have to look up to check the yellow "second car" marker to figure out who I'm looking at. I've been thinking maybe the drivers could get some...

Re: 2020 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Is there really any point in deleting lap times for track limits in free practice? I can see two uses, for drivers to practice track limits and for the stewards to practice enforcing track limits. There's also the case for adjusting track limits, but I'm with Brundle on this one, drivers wouldn't c...

Russell to out-qualify Bottas by a full second and lap him. Everyone realises that it’s been the car all along and that Hamilton is no better than Shinji Nakano. The truth dawns on Toto and he realises he can save money next year by not offering Lewis a new deal and hires Hulk instead, who goes on ...

Bottas is not a slouch most of the time, so it seems logical that he'd be ahead in both. But yeah I'll be looking forward to see how the weekend unfolds.
If Russel clearly beats him on merit in either quali or the race, then that must surely destroy Bottas.

Upon reflection I wanted to give a shout-out to Vettel. Not only did he have a very solid drive, I think he showed great sportmanship from the helmet design to his celebration of Hamilton while he was still in the car. Of course easier when he's had a positive day himself but yeah, thought it was ve...

I'm not a "Hamilton fan" by any stretch, but anyone who thinks he's winning just cause he got the best car can now simply watch this race and shut the hell up. Norris' car was on a direct path from the short straight between turn 5 and 6. As Drew Carey would say: good for you.
Not sure what the point is in trying to compare these guys. Can't they just all be recognized as being great? I mean pitstops back in Fangio's days was almost a minute. Today missing your markers in the pit box can cost you the win!

That Bottas can drive a race without messing up is clear. It's also clear he's got a fair bit of speed, he wouldn't be around in F1 for this long without it. They also had a clearly dominant car in that 14-16 period. Since Bottas joined, that has not always been the case. That will skew results in Rosberg's favour. I do think Rosberg was probably better than Bottas is, but I'm not sure he is worth more than double the wins. True lots of factors at play,...

The thing that gets me about Bottas is that he has 8 race wins since he joined Mercedes in 2017. Looked up Nico's stats[1], the last three he was there (2014 to 2016), and in that period he had 20 race wins. Then again clearly Hamilton has stepped up a level. One thing about Hamilton now is that he...

I think they're allowed to change tyres because often there can be debris on the track and a tyre can be damaged, at the restart with a damaged tyre someone might have a Stroll like crash, so it would be strange to stop a race for safety reasons but then allow a car on track in an unsafe condition....

I find the standing start after a red flag unfair and 'just for the show'. Doesn't seem ...

It's still a sizable advantage as you can put ballast where you want, get the car corner weighted and balanced, move ballast about to suit. On the other hand, F1 cars have heavy breaks , and rely on the g-forces making the leg heavy enough for the drivers to be able to apply full break pressure. Se...

Only way I see Bottas winning the WDC is for Hamilton to have an exceptionally poor year w.r.t. external issues (mechanical issues, getting taken out by others etc). Bottas is within reach over a single lap, similar to Rossberg, but on a normal race day Hamilon is simply better.

Reverse grids is not for me. Instead fix the aero properly so cars can follow and overtake. If the cars have to be slowed down slightly that's worth it.

So five laps of quali mode not being done gives us 25 laps of more performance in the race, and that is something we believe will give us more performance. As I understand the change they can't change modes during the race (either), so those 25 laps of "more performance" means without driver manage...
