Re: Silly Season 2025
Newey’s new 90ft Oyster yacht is being delivered this year and he has made no secret of the fact that he wants to sail around the world with his family before he gets any older. This has been known for a long time and I just wonder how much that figures in Newey’s future plans (I suspect more than a...

Re: Drive to Survive
I did think it was better than last couple of series, but like most I don’t take it too seriously – just something reasonably entertaining to watch on a Friday night with a glass of wine if there’s nothing else to do.
In saying that my non-F1 mates really enjoy it so I guess it’s doing the job.

Re: Christian Horner Allegations Thread
Disunity at the top of an organisation rarely results in anything positive. I’d be interested to know what Newey thinks about all of this, especially given his yacht is due to be delivered this year - and he has previously said he is looking forward to having the time to sail around the world

Ive dealt grievance cases many times and where there is no case to answer for what so ever, its a pretty quick process. 6 hours work maybe, time with involved parties. Decision. Re: Thoughts on Vegas then?
Race was far better than expected given I thought the track was uninspiring. But I seemed to get so unreasonably wound up by the idiotic hype that it kind of spoiled the vibe of the event for me. Just felt like LM were treating us all like 10-year-olds….. Elvis race suits? C’mon…

Just finished watching the truncated highlights and my feeling after the event (taken in the round) is a half decent first race for LV unfortunately somewhat and predictably tarnished by vomit-inducing show/coverage.

Just watched the opening ceremony and to be honest I enjoyed it. Didn't think it was over the top but the weekend is still young. Me too, just watched parts of it on YT (with a bit of fast forward), and it was not nearly as cringy as I expected, in fact the production was quite impressive (if not r...

This one is getting some bad publicity. Is everything ready for the weekend? I may watch this one just for a laugh but I'm sure if there are any issues they will be glossed over for TV. :-) My biggest hope is that the show/event is not too over the top on the cringe scale. I’ll give it a go but I’v...

3 SC's in a 19 lap race, laughable. I think we've had 5 racing laps thus far. When they devised this did they never consider SC's. It really feels like a no brainer for sprints to get them to carry extra fuel and add laps on if there is a SC. Yep or where it is obviously that it will take lon...

Ha Ha looks like I'm in a similar experiment, in fact on sprint weekends I'm now just watching the race itself. Me too! There is no point what-so-ever in the sprint races. Either have them in all races. Or none at all. Or change the format to have longer races in general. Liberty want more races. M...

I remain committed to my experiment of pretending sprints don't exist, so I will be watching practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday, and then on Sunday finding out what random numbers the FIA has decided to add to the championship standings. Luckily, this is a year where the championship is far...

What annoys me most about F1 today isn't the sport in itself, but the way it is been covered be the media. It's very difficult to find serious knowledgable information between races without having to be dragged through an ocean of click bait and non-information from an endless row of F1's "once-upo...

Interesting to see that many people are on the same page. It’s not a coincidence that most (actually all) of my F1 buddies have had similar thoughts over the last couple of years. Re: F1 is becoming more Americanised and shares some similarities to nascar.
I remember coming across some old F1 newspaper clippings from the 60s and 70s and it spoke about F1 in terms of (from memory) as a classy and exciting sport for the connoisseur and discerning gentleman (ok we can drop the ‘gentlement’ part), visiting stylish and elegant locations etc. Although that ...

Back to the Australian GP, I love having a GP at 6am. I can get up, watch the race and then have an uninterrupted day to do other things. It's about an hour earlier than ideal but I'll cope. Interesting what you say about Brundle and Coulthard because I feel exactly the same. In term of commentators today - maybe I'm getting grumpy in my old age, b...
