Re: 2021 Pre-season news / Car launch dates!
Anybody got an update on the all new Ferrari engine for this year? Pretty much every year we get rumours (mostly from the Italian media) that the engine is up N horsepower from the previous year and how it's (supposedly) more powerful than the Merc. It's been unusually quiet. I read somewhere (can'...

I've just seen the Australian COVID19 death figures. Wow, they are incredibly low. Hats off to the Australian authorities for their immense response and measures to keep the spread contained and the mortality rates so low. I am wondering though, have their long hot dry summers and extended warm wea...

Re: 2021 Pre-season news / Car launch dates!
If the Australian Grand prix will get postponed, the pre-season test schedule too will get postponed. It would shift to Bahrain & would possibly be held between March 12-14 before the season gets underway on 28th March. Nothing is official yet though. https://www.motorsportweek.com/2021/01/05/formu...

Re: Why haven't Red Bull signed Perez?
They wont sign him for 2 reasons… First they want to continue to project to the world that their YDP is one of, if not the absolute best in the world and prefer to field Albon one more season at least, and the other reason is because they are perhaps afraid that Checo might match and even beat Max ...

Yes, but they could be in F1 for 10 years or more. Everything changes once they get to F1. New personal sponsors, etc.Asphalt_World wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:21 am
By the time they get to F1, they've been wearing helmets for years.
Is there no other way to identify a driver?

Maybe there needs to be another way to identify the driver in the car more easily. I don't think it's reasonable to expect a driver to get a helmet designed on day 1 and keep it forever.

I think Hamilton's debut was impressive but being in one of the best cars in the field from day 1 certainly helped that. There was no doubt about his talent after a string of podiums out the gate. But for me, Vettel blowing away the field in a Toro Rosso was a bigger shock and a bigger statement. He...

Bathurst is basically just an endurance race... It would be a brave man who would say this in an Australian pub on a Friday afternoon... All jokes aside, I think it is different as it is really a 1000km sprint race these days. It's very different to Le Mans or another 24 hour. The race is also all ...

I’d have to put Webber’s 2010 Korea one down for me. As an Aussie, that was heartbreaking Yes, I'd probably choose this one. I am continually blown away by people trying to diminish a social movement against racism.
It doesn't matter if there are individuals taking things too far, overall there are millions of people participating or supporting the movement.
My question is, why even make this argument?

I think it really depends on what the team are in the sport for. RBR don't strike me as a team that want to accumulate constructor points and be 2nd instead of 3rd. Surprised not to see a thread on this yet. Mercedes are strongly rumoured to be selling 70% of their F1 team to Ineos. https://www.planetf1.com/news/ineos-buy-mercedes/ This seems to fit all the recent rumours of Mercedes looking to exit the sport. How about poaching Kevin Magnussen from Haas? His cowboy-attitude would fit very well with Red Bull, and he's a fast driver, who can win races in the right car. I probably would take the punt on Vettel for a couple of reasons. He is a former 4x world champion and still commands attention, which will bring attention and credibility to the team. The day Formula 1 holds a reverse grid race is the same day Formula 1 is finished. It's an unpopular gimmick even in grassroots motorsport. It should not be happening at the top level. Could be a very good move for Dan. The Ferrari seat would have been as a number 2, given how much Leclerc is being cemented as Ferrari's future.
