Two races in and looks like Pirelli are going to be the stars of this season - All we’re going to hear this year is: ✅ Operating Windows ✅ Preparing the tyres for a hot lap ✅ tyre temperatures ✅ “my tires are dead” ✅ Graining front ✅ “I can’t get heat into my tires” ✅ Ferrari losing all their time i...

Great result by Norris! Fully deserved and unlucky for Piastri. The McLarens look in another league so I’m eager to see these cars in dry conditions. Max still the best driver on the grid - keeping Lando honest till the end. Merc looking decent but I think them and Ferrari are around the same place....

You either die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain. The villainization of Max at this point just to have the championship go to the last race is pretty hilarious to see. The famous line above from The Dark Knight comes to mind. Max was praised for these same moves in 2021 and prior ...

105 is amazing. Gives the flying dutchman a harder job to catchup. Elated. Not going to say I'm gutted for Russell. He loves those hail mary strategies even though they often bite him in the pickle. Great race! Great call by Russell and defensive driving at the end to keep Lewis behind. Lewis must be kicking himself trying to workout whether he should have taken more out of the tyres earlier in the stint to give him more time at the end to complete the pass.

Today the Sky F1 commentators were taking digs at Max’s extracurricular activities sim racing and staying up late. Not sure if that is impacting his performances now that things are tighter at the front and the McLarens are slightly faster. Personally, if he’s been used to doing it for multiple year...

Re: 2024 Australian Grand Prix Race Thread
I think calling it a brake test is a little unfair, even if it technically was one. The spirit of what Alonso was doing, wasn't to brake test Russell in the way we understand the term brake test. I've no reason to disbelieve Alonso, his recount seems like what he was trying to do, and what happened...

Given Sainz's recent performances it seems line a no brainer. It doesn't even look like Ferrari has made a good choice letting him go for Hamilton, not because I think Sainz is better than Hamilton, but because of their ages and likely commitment. Lewis is likely to want to leave F1 if he doesn't g...

Alonso forgot that it was Russell behind him and not Hamilton. He's been doing that with Lewis and other drivers and wins driver of the day and plaudits for his awesome defensive ability to keep faster cars behind - Finally, he got punished - there should be a race ban.

Time for a new tyre compound to give Pirelli competition here - these tyres have hardly any difference except on Saturday. Bring back Michelin or Bridgestone to add a little more spice. Hamilton has nothing left to prove. Most men would love to drive a Ferrari when they enter retirement, Hamilton gets to live that dream out. I think for Hamilton he doesn’t care if he wins, loses, draws at this point. For Ferrari I think this is a strange call, 5 years too late.

Encouraging race for Merc. If they can improve their one-lap pace and have both cars consistently on the second row, I think we may start seeing them close the gap to Red Bull in the second half of the season. Marginal gains like finishing 10 to 15 seconds behind the winning RB car would be a huge a...

Re: BREAKING NEWS... Michael Masi Removed As Race Director
Big picture, Masi will be ok. But what happened to him is quite unreasonable. Losing track position to Max would have ended Hamilton's race because Max would have taken any evasive action possible to stay ahead (as we saw on Lap 1 of Abu Dhabi, and in Saudi, and in Interlagos). Previous FIA regimes...

Hypothetically if Hamilton did retire, who do we think Mercedes would replace him with? Vandoorne and De Vries are in their stable and probably the most likely, but would they be willing to run a lineup with such a lack of experience of racing at the front in F1?
