Re: Red Bull query Oil burning rules
The real question is around proof from either Mercedes or the knowledge of the FIA to understand these engines enough to know if they are being duped.

Re: Ricciardo 2014 vs 2016 season
I think Max gave it a good shot shortly after the VSC stopped, but burnt his tyres out. I think Dan was just toying with him - he never let Max within 1 second, similar to Spain. On another note, interesting to see that Ricciardo's engine has been down on power compared to Max's... Marko's influence...

Re: Albert Park
F1 would be epic around Phillip Island. Could you imagine the speed they would be taking through the first few corners down to the hairpin! It's one of the best tracks in the world for motogp and I'd imagine it would be similar for F1. As for Albert Park, it's pretty crap IMO. Bad for passing but it...

Banning of double diffusers, off throttle blow diffusers, engine mapping, increasing flexible body work thresholds... All these thing were done to restrict red Bull. Nothing has been done to restrict Mercedes since 2014. I think the ban on FRIC was made with Mercedes in mind. Yes indeed plus the do...

When everyone else had pitted under VSC he was about 12 seconds behind Verstappen and even being stuck behind Perez he managed to finish only 10 seconds behind his team mate. These PU's are so incredibly complex, who knows what advantage Merc will have in terms of power. Convergence was meant to happen between manufacturers but that's only true if the development window narrows. That's not going to happen for a long time. At least the new regs are a step in the right dir...

Two things: Ricciardo has always been driving at a very impressive level. Even against Vergne he averaged something like 6 tenths of a second faster over 2 years in qual, and almost doubled the number of top 10 finishes. Vergne was lucky that he had 2 or 3 good points hauls in the wet which is why t...

DRS is absolutely necessary these days. No matter how much we whinge and state simply that they need to find a natural alternative, the fact is that the smartest guys in F1 have looked at this and all agreed that there is no way to allow a car behind to maintain as much downforce for as long as F1 i...

All the greats have shown one lap pace from the start. Max Verstappen doesn't have one lap pace. Sainz was faster than him and Ricciardo is trouncing him. That's why Verstappen will never be great - unless he improves.

From hero to zero for Verwallslappen.
His time will come though. Although you would expect some serious development over the next few years. I don't believe he is anywhere near Ricciardo for now though.

Given the angle of T1 at Melbourne, it's virtually impossible to take the corner coming from an inside line without running to the outside of the corner. Hamilton should have recognised this and backed off considering he was barely up to Rosberg's rear tyre. The difference between this and many of H...

I've always said they should use the DRS timing system but instead allow an increase in fuel flow for a second or two. This would reduce the reliance on long straights for DRS to work and mean we would get passing at places like Monaco.

I don't think Ricciardo is over rated. The only time he has been beaten by Kvyat this year has been when Ricciardo has had car trouble through no fault of his own.
Hulkemberg is a victim of people ranking him against a poor team mate with a tyre change which suited the car.

Stats mean absolutely nothing in F1 unless it's against a team mate.
Two of my favourite drivers ever, so too hard to choose. Also, Kubica raced so long ago it's difficult to remember all his races v Ricciardo who is fresh in the mind.

These engine rules have killed F1. But it's not the only thing. The increasing restrictions on aerodynamics result in cars that are not as exciting to watch and place further emphasis on the engines as there is less room for chassis development. Jean Todd is the worst thing to happen to F1 for a lon...

The only exception may have been Silverstone, where Kvyat most likely would have beaten Ricciardo on merit, however Ricciardo had an engine failure.

After re watching the GP, Ricciardo was held up by a Ferrari and then a Force India on his medium tyre stint.
