Re: Silly Season 2025
That would be a good move for Ocon and hopefull leave room at Alpine for Martins if he picks his form up off the floor. I think Doohan is first in line. As of now definitely. I believe Martins to be more talented though so would rather they skipped over Doohan for him provided he can get his F2 sea...

Re: Silly Season 2025
Got to be ruthless. F1 isn't a charity. If they're fine with losing Hamilton because they have Antonelli on the way then they'll definitely be OK with whoever out of Russell or Antonelli performs the worst for Verstappen. So like I said about being thrown under the bus. That's pretty pejorative lan...

Re: Silly Season 2025
Russell stays at Merc. Antonelli gets a few years at Williams. There could be a logistics problem, how long do Mercedes wait on Verstappen making a decision, he certainly won't be driving for Mercedes next year, in the meantime what do they do with their drivers, pairing them up immediately means o...

Re: Silly Season 2025
Verstappen going to Mercedes is what I was indirectly referring to. Supposedly, Newey is unhappy with the power struggle taking place behind the scenes at Red Bull. im confused about max going to mercedes, what happens to george(new team leader) and antonelli(the protoge) Russell stays at Merc. Re: Newey Leaving Red Bull
This is awesome news. Newey definately doesnt fit in with red bulls bs, this is like Galen Erso escaping the empire. Does that mean Newey will now engineer a critical flaw into the RB21 that will allow his next team to defeat them? It'll be interesting to see what happens for sure. Every other time...

Re: Silly Season 2025

Re: Silly Season 2025
Newey’s new 90ft Oyster yacht is being delivered this year and he has made no secret of the fact that he wants to sail around the world with his family before he gets any older. This has been known for a long time and I just wonder how much that figures in Newey’s future plans (I suspect more than ...

BBC reporting it now as well, although that could just be Andrew Benson doing his usual thing of parroting other reports. I reckon he'll go to Aston Martin. Re: New points system
The 9-6-4-3-2-1 system also included dropped rounds, normally a season was 16 rounds but only 11 rounds counted, they decided that all the rounds should count and then added an extra point for a win emphasising the importance of winning races. I'd luckily forgotten about the dropped rounds. But loo...

Re: New points system
Well Norris won't be champion. It's true but totally irrelevant. Have race wins been significantly devalued? Under the 9-6-4-3-2-1 system second place was worth 66.6666r of first place. Under the current system second place is worth 72% of first place so only slightly more. None of this is relevant...

Re: Is Hamilton ruining Max’s legacy?
Driving is one part of greatness but a very important part. I don’t see anything Lewis does better than Max at actually driving the car. I don’t think he’s as quick, or as relentless, or as consistent. Sprint qualy china, the moment rain fell down, Max fell to 4th. He is not the 2nd coming of jesus...

Sprint qualy china, the moment rain fell down, Max fell to 4th. He is not the 2nd coming of jesus. Good explanation for that. Look how gentle Red Bull is on it's tyres. Re: New points system

Re: New points system
Actually the material gap between them (that the whole purpose of the points system is designed to reflect) is pretty similar... As of now Norris is two race wins and a little bit behind Verstappen in the WDC. Under the old points system Norris would be two wins and a half behind Verstappen. So not...

Re: New points system
This is a fine point of view to have. What I struggle to understand is both having this opinion AND liking the 9-6-4-3-2-1 system which did almost the exact same thing as the current system which you don't like. The WDC under the previous 9-6-4-2-1 system and taking out the sprint and fastest laps ...

Re: New points system
Obviously it comes down in many ways to luck. You lower the points on offer and it's going to for the teams who don't score often because you've got so few data points. Yep, I took an exceptional year but the data you've provided also shows us that the 10-6-4-3-2-1 system in place then does roughly...

Re: New points system
How else would merely finishing get you points? This is something that doesn't happen anymore but used to. I think the points system has had to expand to continue to do the same job as reliability has improved (and drivers crash out far less often). In 1989 with points down to sixth place 29 driver...

Im sorry, what is the purpose of the points if not to rank the teams across a season? This. It's probably been mentioned here about 8-10,000 times, & in motor racing circles about a couple of million times over the years, but when any driver joins a team, what is their #1 mission? It's to beat their teammate yeah? For all the reasons F1Merc mentioned above, I think joining RB as the...

Re: New points system
I'm hearing that the teams pay for every point earned so this enables the FIA to garner more money and this has come from the FIA itself, probably MBS, this follows on from an increase in fines into a system that I believe doesn't publish their yearly accounts since MBS took charge.

In terms of present day Bottas how can he be judged given the car he has had to drive these past 3 years, this year we have comical pitstops and when he has a chance to finish in the points his engine blew up, put him up against the Hulk and I'm not sure who comes out on top.

Shocked Lewis has dropped with some and sainz risen after a few races. Sainz is driving a fast consistent car and lewis/george are driving a fairy cakes car. Ignoring the fact that Max doesn't need a rear gunner, I just can't understand why Sainz would go to Audi.
