Yeah it's looking like it's going to happen but it won't be announced until Bottas finds a seat I believe, Bottas' Manager was in talks with Fred Vasseur (Alfa Romeo), in the Mercedes motorhome.

Re: 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Race Thread

I think it's been said here earlier, but it really does seem like a standing start in wet conditions is really not such a good idea. Exciting, yes. Makes for a good race, no. Safe, no. Perhaps the FIA should reconsider this. Other series do rolling starts and while not quite as exciting, does gener...

Re: Rank the Drivers Midseason Performance

The fact is Perez is new to the team and you've said numerous times that drivers take time to adapt to a new car and you're suddenly choosing to ignore it. Bottas has also had a poor season if you think he's having a good season you're choosing to ignore Imola and Baku. That's another facts You may...

Re: Silly Season 2022

Obviously, Latifi is money in the bank. That's worth something -- I don't know if $20m is accurate for his sponsorship, but let's say it is. There are a few revenue streams a second competitive driver might be able to open: 1) First, there's the direct effect of WCC gains. It's hard to know how muc...

Re: Sprint Qualifying - first impressions?

I'm all for more meaningful action throughout the weekend, but I have issues with the actual format. Firstly, the 'normal' quali is now completely irrelevant with regard to the main race. You could be fastest in Q1, Q2 and Q3 and still start at the back on Sunday. Points for the sprint race makes n...

Looking at last years rankings Perez was at #5 and Bottas was at #10, put Perez in a top car and then he drops down to #12 one place below Bottas. https://forum.planetf1.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16165 That’s what I call “Verstappen tax” :) Gasly is currently rated as a top 5 driver of the season on ...

Re: Rank the Drivers Midseason Performance

I still believe Perez is better than Bottas. I said there may be a bit of bias on my side but I wasn't a part of the forum prior to 3 weeks ago so I didn't vote Perez anything before. But I'm a big Perez fan. But Bottas as also been shocking your desire to paint him as doing well is because it bigs...

Hamilton - Will he retire or stay? If he wins he'll stay for certain. If he loses he'll probably retire. Why? Consecutive championships is the one major record Michael still holds outright. Lewis can match it this year, but he'll need to win next year to beat it. If he doesn't win this year then th...

Re: Silly Season 2022

I'm just questioning your financial argument of what might be best for Williams when it starts with a financial deficit, you lose $20M from Latifi, you buy out his contract say $10, get in 2 drivers capable of scoring points if Williams can build a points scoring car, another $10M, that's $40M. If ...

In terms of sports, MotoGP starts up again after their summer break and the football season starts this weekend after their summer break, I would be a Leeds United fan. :)

I'd say the fact at Silverstone they pitted him to take away the fastest lap points from Lewis instead of collecting WCC points would suggest they aren't. I'm normally close with these polls, big surprise to not see Max leading and being a clear leader at that, I do feel Norris is being a little overrated due to how badly Ricciardo is performing.
